So Fucking Bleak, Darling

Summary:

The Avengers work so hard to save the world, that sometimes they forget to save their own. (Y/N) was taken in by Tony Stark and treated as if she was his daughter. However, it's not easy prioritizing the people in his life that aren't also involved in saving the world. Thankfully, Loki is there to pick up the pieces. In his arms, she finds the love and attention she deserves.

Gerðr was a beautiful giant in Norse mythology. When Freyr first saw her, he was lovesick and unable to forget about her. So Freyr's servant convinced her to marry him, but at the cost of his sword. A sword of which would have saved him during the battle with Ragnarok. It's said that he had rather loved Gerðr and died in battle than having lived without her as his wife.

"Hey, guys-"

"Not now (Y/N), we're busy."

Tony dismissed me with the wave of his hand, the others glancing at me with quick smiles before turning back to their work.

"I think I can help-"

"(Y/N), please. We need to focus, is your homework done?"

Tony placed the pen he was chewing on back onto the table, turning to me.

"No but-"

"Then go do it, we'll talk later."

Right, of course they're not going to listen to me.

They never do.

I get that they're working on a plan to infiltrate a Hydra stronghold, but I thought I could finally be of some help.

"Mr. Stark, do you have a minute?"

Peter came tumbling through the door, only his mask missing from his suit.

Hanging my head I headed for the door, expecting Tony to dismiss Peter as he did me.

But he didn't.

"What is it, kid? I'm a little busy right now."

"I think I can help! I just found out that Hydra's planning to abandon their base in Essen!"

I stopped, frozen in my tracks.

They're leaving?

Shit, that's not good.

"What? Great, that's going to derail all of our plans! We should have just gone in right away."

Tony huffed, slamming his hand down.

"Why are they moving so suddenly?"

Steve looked around, then he caught my
eyes.

"(Y/N)?" He asked, furrowing his brows.

He always could see right through me.

"I'm sorry. I was just trying to help. I was scouting out and found that they were doing a supply transplant. But I must have tipped them off somehow."

It was a whisper, but even though it was quiet I knew they heard me.

God, why am I always messing up?

Why do I constantly make a fool out of myself?

I just wanted to help, but it turns out I'm nothing but a burden.
