An American

What happened to your face?

Look at your face.

The beautiful smile you once adorned

has been smeared,

stained with centuries of injustice,

tears.

Injustices that have long plagued

the human condition,

the fragile existence, like rock

to water, diminishes,

here one moment,

fallen and forgotten the next.

Who are you now?

Your beauty,

branded by pain,

suffers a nations debt,

other countries in line

to collect,

chained, shackled, a puppet,

lost is the American way,

mentally maimed, always afraid,

bound by broken hopes

scattered to the wind

un-united, falling as you stand

What happened to your face?

Look at your face!

The armor you once adorned

is torn, broken, rusted

from the low blows

of a once democratic, socialist turned government

Don't let it go, don't let this slide

now is the time,

to remember,

to react,

to rise,

An American!
