It's been two weeks already since I moved out of my parent's home. I mean don't get me wrong I love my parents and all it's just living under their roof is tiresome. I turned 21 last year and finally got enough to buy my own apartment. My brother Kayden is still living under their roof. Kayden and I get along really well to the point where I asked him if he would like to live with me. Kayden just turned 17 and if he agreed to live with me, my parents would've probably said yes. Such a momma's boy I laughed to myself.
I took a deep breath enjoying the smell of the humid weather. It was going to rain soon and I loved the before-rain scent. This view of the city was amazing. I forgot how beautiful the buildings and lights were at night. I felt a drop fall on the tip of my nose and wiped it off. I stuck my hand out for a few more drops to fall onto my palm. I walked back inside and closed the doors to my balcony before the inside of my home got wet. I looked around the apartment just observing the messy, unsettled scene. "I need to finish unpacking, I've procrastinated for a while now." I put my hands on my sides.
I walked to the kitchen and looked in the fridge. "Ugh great, I ran out of milk." I pulled my phone out of my pocket and checked the time. 7:30 the clock read. Not too bad, I should go out to buy some and maybe a few other things. I unlocked the phone and closed the fridge. I went into notes and started to write down a list I needed. "Eggs, milk, strawberries, blueberries, pancake mix, bacon... and that's it for now." I locked my phone and put it back in my pocket. I took my sweater off from the couch and put my shoes on. Where's that umbrella I packed? I went into my backpack and took out an umbrella. I grabbed my wallet and keys and headed out locking the door before leaving the complex.
It was so peaceful the walk to the grocery store. The sounds of the raindrops hitting the cement sidewalk was soothing and the aroma of the wet rain. I love the rain, it's so calming and just makes you relaxed in every way possible. I felt a buzzing in my pocket but continued walking. I took my phone out and checked what the buzzing was. Kayden. "Hey K, what's up?" I said as I answered the call.
"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out anytime soon? I miss you already and since it's spring vacation I thought I should go see you."
Kayden, a momma's boy but also a sister's dream brother. Not too annoying, fun to hang out with, cares for you, and always wants you around. "Yes, of course. How long is your spring break? I have to see when I can pick you up since I do have work and the classes I'm taking online."
"Oh yea, that's right. How are your classes doing? You acing them too like you aced high school?"
"So far I'm doing great, thanks for asking. And how are your classes? You know I'm always here to help if you need." I said as I walked into the grocery store entrance.
"I'm doing well too surprisingly, but spring break is for two weeks. We go back after next week."
"Okay, I'll let you know when I'll pick you up, okay?" I said holding the phone with my shoulder as I close the umbrella and hang it on the umbrella rack.
"Okay sis, love you bye."
"Love you too." Then I heard the sound of the call ending.I picked up a basket and began to look through the aisles. I put a few things in the basket and kept looking for the items I wrote in my notes. I paid and walked out opening up my umbrella. I checked my phone for the time again. 8:00. I decided to go to Stan's for a stop by. I went to my contacts and called Stan. "Yellow?"
"Stan! You home?" As I walked in the direction of his apartments.
"Yea why? Don't tell me you're coming over for another 'surprise visit'" He said with a groan.
I laughed, knowing he has his hand over his face in disapproval. "No, of course not! I just wanted to see how my best friend is doing" I said. I heard a defeated sigh coming from the other line of the phone. I walked up to his apartment about to press his number, 4C, when I heard a buzzing for the door to unlock.
