[𝚂𝚃𝙰𝚁𝚃]

NaNa POV

It was time to meet our new teacher.

"Who is it going to be..." I asked no one in particular, excited to know who it was.

Everyone, except Chengcheng as he had other things to attend to on that day, was seated by a dining table, awaiting the arrival of our new instructor, or what we will be calling, Lao shi.

Our teacher was prepared to greet us in the most unexpected way possible, by bringing a large snake.

Justin, Xinchun, Wenjun started screaming like when children get their candy stolen, huddling up together in the opposite corner to avoid the large reptile. Quanzhe just gave up, standing up and running away instead.

On the other hand, Zeren, Zhengting and I were admiring the beautiful scales on its back as the snake slithered around on the keepers back and hands

"Let me introduce my friend," the keeper started, referring to the snake. He introduced that her name was 'blondie'.

He then signalled our new instructor, Sammi, or I just call Jie since we're the only two girls, to lift her hand, back facing the snake to let it feel and get used to her scent.

She kept repeating that she wasn't afraid but obviously lying as she had small voice cracks and was visibly shaking.

When the snake was brought away from the middle and towards the front of the room, the four terrified boys heaved a sigh of relief, saying that they were 'reborn' or something.

"Who wants to try holding the snake?" Yangdi asked, in which my eyes lit up. With no hesitation, I was the first to raise my hand. Zeren and Zhengting soon followed after.

Unfortunately, since I was seated behind the two boys, it was difficult for me to get out of my seat, hence allowing the other to hold the snake before me.

Zeren held the snake first, putting it close to his face, clearly unafraid. He was also quite skilled, having had taken care of a snake before when he was young.

The other boys just stared from afar, complimenting on his bravery.

Zhengting was next, having his fun with the snake as I looked at them, envious.

"I wanna try too..." I whispered, and as if the gods had heard my prayers, the snake started to slitter from the keepers' hands to me, looking as if it was floating in mid-air.

"Hi baby," I whispered, stretching out my hand as it slithered around my neck, head resting on mine as it stayed there for a while, acting quite comfortable.

I've always been good with animals, somehow. It was like a gift. Since young, birds would fly close to me, landing on my fingers for no reason, or stray dogs and cats would stay close to my feet, cuddling it. Even animals like squirrels would approach me.

"Seems like she has taken a liking to you," the keeper commented as I smiled, rubbing my thumb on its body.

After a good couple of minutes of me admiring the majestic creature that was cuddling up to me.

Things soon escalated as Justin was 'forced' by Yangdi to also try to hold the snake.

The poor seventeen-year-old gave out small yelps as the snake was pulled away from me and placed on Justin.

After seconds, Justin was trying to prove to himself that the snake was quite cute, which it was, but his facial expressions said otherwise.

That marked the end of our small interaction with the snake. We all said our goodbyes, sitting down and getting ready to eat.
