After finishing our punishment, we found Gojo alone laying under a tree in the school garden. With his blindfold it was hard to see if he was just relaxing or sleeping.
"Um sir? We are back." We said.
"I know, I saw you." He smiled. The thing with him 'seeing' with that blindfold still made me confused.
"Where is Mr. Nanami?" I questioned. I looked for him while we neared Gojo before but couldn't spot him.
"You're quite interested in Nanami, aren't you~" The cheery teacher sung.
"Well, I kinda have to be, he is my teacher." I retorted with my arms crossed in front of my chest.
"WELL,..." He mocked my voice. "Nanami went to the city to do some things so today, you'll be blessed with my company, aren't you soo excited to have the opportunity to be taught by the best of the best? " Gojo said confidently.
I didn't understand him praising himself all the time. But he must be good when he talks like that. Still, he could be a little more humble.
I only managed to groan as a response. Gojo finally stood up and we all went for Megumi because today, the new girl would come. We went to wait for her at the train station like Nanami did for me a few days ago.
The girl introduced herself as Nobara and matched the mood Itadori had. They both acted like they had known each other for years even though they had just met.
We took a route through the city to let her look around for a bit and then Gojo wanted to get something to we walked for a while, chatting and getting to know each other.
Gojo who walked in front of us the whole time like mama goose leading her children, stopped abruptly next to an old run-down building. It looked like a haunted house and gave me chills just from looking at it.
We all looked at the building questioning Gojo's intentions for this stop.
"I hope you all enjoyed the walk because now we have to see how capable you're. And because I know Megumi from before he'll wait here with me and keep watch over Nobara's stuff." We looked at each other, not understanding what was Gojo getting at. He on the other hand, looked like he just told us what's one plus one so there wasn't a need for any explanation.
"Now in you go." He pushed us towards the building's smashed door with a smile.
And before we knew it the door closed behind us and we were met with darkness.
"We should stick-" Itadori started saying but was cut off by Nobara.
"Let's split! This is so exciting, see ya outside." She announced and disappeared in some corridor.
I didn't want to split either but since Nobara was long gone, we had no other choice.
"So, I guess good luck and we'll meet outside." I told Itadori and took the other side of the corridor.
It was really dark but you could still see outlines of things from the light that shined through the borded up windows.
I took light steps and observed everything. I really didn't like darkness. Back home I wouldn't go out when the sun set. The forest was scary at night. A lot of wild animals and bugs crawled out of their hidings when the night came.
Even though I didn't have to be scared of animals here, the fear still stayed.
I walked into one room that looked like a hospital room. A lot of beds with tables on the side. The dust coated all of the furniture and made me cough as it flowed around me.
I slowly walked through the room. A sudden rustle of a closet at the end of the room caught my attention. It stopped when I looked at it. I had a weird feeling in my stomach and got a bit nervous.
"Itadori? Nobara? Is it you?" I asked carefully. I thought they might be playing a prank on me to scare me. I waited for a bit but instead of an answer another movement in the closet followed. It was like something was trying to get out.
"Um..." I looked around for some weapon and saw a loose wooden plank that fell from the window so I picked it up. "...hello? Do you need help?" I asked again while slowly walking towards the source of the noise.
I stopped in front of it contemplating if I should just give into my fear and quickly leave.
No, Y/N, you can't be a scaredy cat and leave when something gets uncomfortable. You won't save anyone like this.
I psyched myself up. With one hand holding the piece of wood and the other on the key that kept the closet locked, I warned.
"I going to open the doors okay? So don't push on it." I thought I'd get some reaction, maybe an agreement or another set of rustles but I was met with silence.
"Okay" I sighed out.
I slowly started turning the key until I heard the door unlock. I prepared for something to jump out so I took a step back. But again nothing. Now that the door was open, whatever was in there didn't want to get out now.
I reached for the door handle and started opening it. And to my surprise, I was met with complete darkness with which I was not familiar.
"Nothing?" I said confused looking in every corner of the closet. Suddenly red glowing eyes appeared in the darkness. I shrieked and fell down, the plank falling out of my hand.
A curse walked out of the closet, seemingly out of nowhere.
"Why must all curses look so scary." I whined while I pulled myself away from its eight long skinny legs. The large number of eyes didn't help either. I moved my body on the floor until my back hit the plank that fell out of my hand. I quickly grabbed it and slapped the spirit across the head. Its head spun around and then smiled at me as if nothing happened.
It started crawling faster to me until it hovered above me. I was too terrified to move, the fear took over my body.
It observed me, looked into my eyes. A gross slimy substance fell from its mouth on my cheek. I was already seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Y/N!" The doors to the room flew open and Nobara and Itadori appeared.
Before I noticed it, a nail flew across the room and pierced the curse's body. It hissed and crawled back.
I quickly got up and took a stance next to my friends. They were ready to attack it so I got ready as well. Waiting for it to get close enough for me to freeze it.
Itadori ran to it first with a loud yell but was thrown with ease to the side by the creature.
Next was Noraba who impaled it with a hammer and nails. It clearly did some damage to the creature but it wasn't enough and Nobara was out of nails. She changed her tactic and beat the spirit with the hammer, however, after few hits it threw her body like a piece of trash against the wall.
'Oh shit. I'm on my own again.' I looked at the bodies of my friends who were helplessly holding their place of impact with the floor.
I breathed out and with a yell to give me courage ran towards the creature. I jumped on its back and held it by the neck activating my freezing technique.
"Die you stupid curse!" I yelled and I applied pressure to make the freezing quicker and more powerful.
Eventually, after few minutes it completely froze and crumbled. I didn't believe this would work but I guess Nobara did enough damage that the curse was weaker.
When I saw the pile of ashes under me, I ran to check on Itadori and Nobara. They weren't badly injured, just a few scratches.
I ran for Gojo and Megumi to help me carry them out and we went back to school. Gojo was a bit surprised by what kind of curse we encountered. Apparently it was of higher grade than he expected.
