Chapter 02

   I was a calm, sweet, smiling, loved and very cheerful baby.

   My parents always took care of me. They spoiled me with kisses and hugs. When I felt lonely or sad they managed to cheer me up.

   For my 1st birthday, they had invited the whole family and had given me a huge unforgettable party and everyone had given me wonderful gifts.

   One day, when I was 14 months old, I managed to surprise my parents.

   They were playing with me, I was lying on the floor until I tried to stand up.

- jagiya ! Look ! She is trying to take her first step! my mother shouts.

- what ?!

- look ! she said, giving him a look.

   I had a little trouble maintaining my balance, I began to walk slowly, they were surprised to see me walk.

   My father stood up, he stood 1 meter from me, his knee on the ground and his arms straight.

- come on Yuna, Come to me. I know you can do it, he encourages me.

- go ahead, replied my mother.

   I kept walking towards him with a smile on my face, until I managed to cross the finish line.

   He carries me in his arms and gives me lots of kisses. These first steps were like stepping over the top of a cliff.

- you made a success of your first steps Yuna! I am really proud of you! He enthuses.

- wait ! She's trying to say something, she says.

- go ahead, say it.

(NT: appa means dad in Korean)

- well done ! Yuna! He shouts with joy.

- Yuna... Say eomma, smiles my mother.
(NT: eomma means mom in Korean)

- like this "eomma".

- eo... eo... eo-mma... eomma...

- THAT'S IT ! They scream in the same time.

   I giggling and repeat appa and eomma.

- you managed to take your first steps and you managed to speak! smiles my father.

- I'm really proud of you, nae salanghaneun ttal", She said carrying me in her arms and giving me lot of kisses.

(NT: nae salanghaneun ttal means my beloved daughter in Korean)
