"You pushed him out?" Joseph asked, extremely shocked. "Do you know how hard that is?"
"Shoved him, he made it really hard to though," Pandora said, "It hurt so bad."
Surprisingly, Pandora was wide awake. Her friends Erryn, Joseph, and Andrée had all been impressed by her past lesson. Pandora didn't realize how truly difficult Occulemency had been. She was proud of herself. This was one of the first few days she was smiling a genuine smile.
"Well yeah, it's Occulemency," Andrée said. "Occulemency isn't supposed to be easy. I'm genuinely shocked you were able to do that."
They walked through the hall on their way to potions class. Pandora told her everything about the lesson and grinned ear to ear. They listened as she ranted about the pain that she overcame.
Boom.
They jumped and turned their heads in the direction of the loud noise. Everyone else was looking too. Either Erryn or Joseph grabbed her arm, she didn't look back.
"What was that?" Erryn asked.
Their smiles were gone. They knew what was coming. They've been planning for it ever since they heard the little kids say something about it.
Not yet, please not yet. Pandora's brain was repeating. Please, please, please.
"Pandora..." Joseph said, his voice shaking. The grasp on her arm tightened.
Boom.
Screams echoed in the now crowded halls. Pandora looked around absent-mindedly in shock. They weren't ready.
"Wands out," Pandora demanded, pulling hers out of her robe pocket. "They're here."
It was Joseph grabbing her arm. His grip was making her hand numb. Erryn was looking around, trying to spot where spells were breaking through. Windows were cracking, walls were exploding, kids were screaming, and people were preparing to fight.
The battle was here. Now, it was time for all or nothing. At this moment, they needed each other. Pandora balled her hands into fists and tried her hardest to mentally prepare herself.
In the same formation that the students put up the protective wards, the Occidensors were breaking it down. Spells were ricocheting off of the school, slowly causing the barrier to crack in every different spot. They chanted, wands pointed up.
She spotted him. He was out in front of the door, leading the group. He stood tall in a jet black robe, his hair gelled back to stay out of his face with the same stupid strand of hair falling across his forehead. Beside him was Emilio, following with Helena.
"Welsch is here! He's going to kill us all!" A little boy cried hysterically.
Pandora looked to the child and said, "You will be okay. Stay brave. Brave people don't die."
The child sniffled a little and said, "I'm brave. Brave people don't die."
Other people part of the Fluntwhill society that did not go to Lugborn were apparating in. Attwell popped in next to Erryn. They all stood in a circle all facing away from each other, consisting of, Erryn, Joseph, Andrée, Pandora, and Attwell. The wall in front of Pandora exploded open, and now it was time to fight. Brave people don't die.
She was about to run off and attack, until Joseph yanked her back, "Don't die, okay?"
Pandora nodded, "As long as you guys don't. Brave people don't die."
"It'll be fine," Erryn said, pulling in Pandora for a hug. "I'll see you after the battle."
Pandora nodded, trying not to cry at the fact she might not see them after the battle. This could be the last hug she ever got from them. She squeezed Erryn tight, motioning for Joseph and Andrée to join them.
