Chapter Eight

Greyson POV

I got Alexa and Tanner to bring me to Michael’s Grill. They let me choose a spot to sit, so I got a spot where I could see Liam and Maura, but they can’t see us.

I cannot believe what I just saw. Liam was staring really deep into Maura’s eyes. Maura’s my girl, not Liam’s.

“Greyson, is that Liam with Maura?” Alexa asks.

Why do people have to point out the fact that Maura choose to have supper with Liam and not me?

“Yeah,” I mutter.

“Are you jealous?” Alexa says with a teasing smile on her face. My face turns bright red.

“I think his face is answering for him. Tanner laughs.

“Guys, stop it! I say, very annoyed and they start laughing.

“Liam, how about I think about it and get back to you. I mean, it’s only been four days.” I hear my first and hopefully my only love say.

“It’s okay if you say no. I’ll understand it’s just…” the rest of his sentence is muffled. Liam looks like he could start crying. Maura looks at Liam and it’s obvious that she adores him.

Did Liam ask Maura out? He couldn’t have! He’s only known her for less than a week.

Maura’s POV

Liam just asked me to be his girlfriend. I want to say yes. No one has any idea how much I like him. The four days I’ve actually known him have been the best four days of my life. My mind is sayings yes, go for it. But my heart is saying no, you’ll never really see him anyway.

I open my mouth to just say yes when I see Greyson. He’s staring at me like he knows what Liam just asked me. He quickly looks away from my eyes and stares at his food. Has Greyson been here to the whole time? I really do have feelings for Greyson. I’ve known him my whole life, eh makes me feel good about myself.

“Liam, how about I think about it and get back to you. I mean, it’s only been four days.” I say as I watch Liam’s face fall. I feel so bad for making him feel like this, but I feel so torn between my dream and my childhood best friend.

“It’s okay if you say no. I’ll understand. It’s just that you are so special to me. Ever since my break up with Dani I never thought I could feel that way again. But, you proved me wrong. I feel ever better when I’m around you.”

Liam picks up his fork and plays around with his salad. He’s not look at me, but I’m trying to get him to look at me. I look back at Greyson. Alexa and Tanner are happy, smiling and laughing. Greyson’s pretending he’s eating but I can tell he’s just moving his food around.

“Liam?” I say quietly. He glances up and then back at his food. “Please, let’s ju-just talk like th-that old lady,” I say, trying to bring a smile to his face.

He hardly cracks a smile, “No, I think I’m going to head back.”

“Why so early? We just got our food, Payne James.” He half-heartedly smiles and I hear him start to chuckle. I know I can’t make everything better, I just broke his heart. But it breaks my heart to see him like this and to know I’m the reason he’s so sad.

“Yay, Payne James is happy again.” I say with a fake cheerful voice and sneak a glance at Greyson. He is currently staring at his food, but I caught him looking at me.

“You can talk to him if you want.” I guess I was making it obvious that I was looking at him. “I’m going to my hotel room. Bye, remember to call or text me.” Liam says while getting up from the table.
