Remy POV
"Take the next left turn on Hines Avenue," says my gps, breaking the silence. Me being as jumpy as I am at the moment, I jump high enough for my head to hit the top of my old silver Honda.
"Thanks Siri. I really appreciate that."
"You're welcome Remy."
I roll my eyes. I keep forgetting that Siri doesn't speak sarcasm. I usually love driving. I love the smooth feel as my tires carry me wherever I'm going. But today the only thing I can do in my car is overthink.
One way or another, whether my date goes good or bad, I will be coming into this car and await the eager ears of my best friend. I have no idea what the next two hours will hold, but I hope to the heavens I am able to have cake wherever I'm going. That's all I ask. Cake.
I arrive to a very fancy restaurant that seems like the kind of place that has two different forks and they make you wear bibs when you're eating. Who is this girl? I mean it's a Saturday night and yet there isn't a single car in the lot. The light are on but everything else seems to scream empty.
Lizzie POV
I head to the restaurant and pull next to the only car in the lot. This is one of my go to places to eat every time I'm back in L.A. They have a killer shrimp pasta that I have yet to be able to eat all of.
I turn off the car and get out. Just as I'm about to get out I hear the car besides me door open. "Excuse me? Yeah I was wondering whether or not this restaurant is closed. Because it seems like no one is here. I'm supposed to be meeting my date."
"Yeah I thi-" I turn and become breathless when I see this beauty in front of me.
She has long black hair that reaches her lower back. Her eyes are a dark chocolate brown with small specks of green in them. It's almost as if it's reverse mint chocolate chip ice cream. Chocolate with mint chips in it. Her skin is a tan with an unexplainable glow. Her eyeshadow is natural but it's still easy to see.
I see her blush and then I realize I was staring. I shake my head, trying to re-orient myself. "Yeah um I'm actually meeting my date as well. Do you know Ami?" She nods her head. "Well then shall we?" I say before holding the door open for her. She thanks me in a soft voice and I can't help but make a mental note to thank Ami until I die for this date. I mean there's no way she's not a model.
"Two for Olsen," I say to the host. Once he hears the last name, he looks up. "O-of course right away." He fumbles with the menus and silverware. I smile to try and ease his tension. It works. He relaxes a little before leading us to a booth. "Is this alright?"
"This is great thanks."
"Anything to drink?" he asks my date.
"How about a coke?"
"Okay and you?" says the host, turning towards me.
"Same."
"Derek will be out shortly to take your order."
"So what's your name?" she asks me once he heads back to where he's supposed to be.
"Elizabeth Olsen. What is yours?"
"I'm Remy Brown." She hesitates before biting her lip. "I just need to put this out there. I've never done this before. I'm one of those people who have not been on a date in a really long time. So if I'm being weird feel free to tell me."
I sigh in relief. "I've never been on a blind date before either. My friends insisted so I decided to give them the time of the day. But it's nice and I'm glad I'm here."
Remy throws me a bright smile. "Me too. So do you have any siblings?"
I hesitate before answering. Does she really not recognize me? "Yeah I have two older sisters. Mary-Kate and Ashley."
"Oh that's really cool. I'm the middle child so it's always loads of fun. My older brother Wyatte just retired from the military. He was studying to be an author when he decided to join the Army. How he went from 0 to 100 has me stumped. He went from 'I wanna write books to a living' to 'Hey I know! Why don't I join the forces where I can get shot at and I'm not allowed to have wifi'. And then he went back to finish college to become a writer once more. Like I know he was erratic with his big life choices but my dude come on!"
I laugh. She reminds me a lot of Scarlet. "You said you were the middle child right?"
"Yeah. Then there's my little sister Rose. Don't get me started on her. She just opened up a mexican restaurant with her boyfriend Tyler. She calls me up all the time to complain about the fact that there are all of these white people pronouncing everything on the menu incorrectly. She opened up a mexican restaurant in L.A. Of course everyone pronounces everything wrong. It's what I warned her about before she opened it but she was like 'I doubt it will be that bad' So here we are.p"
"And what do you do?" I ask her.
Just then Derek comes out and asks, "Are you ladies ready to order?"
I look at Remy. She nods before giving her order. "I'll have the mushroom ravioli and some steamed broccoli."
"I'll have some spaghetti but instead of meatballs can I have some shrimp?"
"Sounds good. You look familiar. Have I seen you before?" He flushes before I have to answer. "I'm sorry. That was inappropriate. I'll have that right out to you."
Remy raises her eyebrows before continuing. "Well I own a small café slash bookstore. I live in the apartment next door with my roommate Nadia. She works part time at the shop and full time as a high school guidance counselor. She's been really helpful. She actually met her boyfriend Chad at my coffee shop. Every time she's complaining I remind her of that. She's waiting for the day that well runs dry. I just realized I've been doing all the talking. What about you and your sisters?"
I suppress a sigh. Now she's gonna know that I'm a big actress. "Well my big sisters opened their own fashion line and are currently in New York. They have lived there for a while but I still miss them because I'm the baby of the family and with everyone gone there's no one else to divert the attention on. And as for me- well- okay do you know the Marvel movies?"
"I haven't watched them but I read the comics. I just didn't want anything to change with all of the characters I fell in love with at 15. What about them?"
"I'm actually Wanda Maximoff in them."
"Wow! That's really cool. I'll bet it was really fun shooting the Scarlet Witch powers."
"Yeah but here's the thing. They didn't know how to script them so they wrote Scarlet Witch wigglywoos. It was pretty confusing but then I realized oh there just trynna say do your magic hands so yeah. It was a lot of fun. I had a hard time keeping a straight face during some of it though. But I don't necessarily like talking about work on a date."
Just then comes out Derek who leaves the food. "Can I get you ladies any refills on the drinks?"
Remy shakes her head with a smile. "I'm fine. Thank you." Then she turns back to me. "What's your favorite color?"
Well that was easy. She didn't ask for anything. Not a cast autograph, not how much I make on a normal basis, not even for a photo. "Yellow. It's just such a bright color."
"I love yellow but I love orange more. I feel like no one ever says orange. I say no color left behind. Besides I love the color orange. I had this old jacket when I was younger. It had thumbholes and I wore that jacket everyday." She says with a smile before taking a bite of her ravioli.
I smile before thinking to myself, My friends definitely picked a good one.
