Jag carried Aki through the woods, running as fast as he could. Aki had the sense to stay quiet. Whatever made the loud noise, Jag knew it was bad. They ran until they came to a river, then Jag put Aki down.

"Okay, pup." It was the first time Jag had spoken to Aki. "That loud noise was called a gun, got it? Guns are BAD. We have to get away."
"Why?" Asked a timid Aki, "I-"
"No time. " Panted Jag,"They're coming. We need to get across this river, and fast. There is a pathway of wood a little North of here, so hurry."
With that said, Jag bounded off. Aki hurried to follow him, and found that he could keep up quite easily.

After traveling for some time, they reached an abandoned covered bridge.
"Hurry!" Urged Jag, ushering Aki forward with his nose. "They are close!"

As they started across they slippery old bridge, a silver car came into view. Excited yells could be heard over the sound of running water.

"Go!" Yipped Jag,"I'll hold them off."
Aki obediently scurried across the bridge. He had just made it to the other side of the river when he heard a loud bang once again, and turned to see Jag laying on the ground with blood coming from his left shoulder.
