Chapter Seventeen, Dragel Meet
Mia groaned awake as she was suddenly roused from her deep sleep by Cressida crying for her nightly feed. Wincing as she pushed herself into a sitting position after extracting herself from Blaise's and Damon's arms she grumbled to herself as slumped against the pillows; she was too sore and tired. As she was prepared for the struggle of getting out of bed, Andre's tired voice rang firmly through the darkened bedroom.
"Stay there, my love, I'll get Cressida and Rowena." André told her firmly, climbing from the edge of the bed to fetch their week old twin daughters. Letting out a relaxed sigh, Mia relaxed against the pillows as a muted Lumos appeared at the foot of the bed, not bright enough to wake the others but just enough so they could see the twins. Plus, it was dimmer compared to the lights and lamps within the room.Settled more comfortably against the memory foam pillows Mia watched with a tender smile upon her lips, love surging round her body as though it had replaced her blood, as André bonded with Cressida. She loved watching all of her mates bond with both of their daughters; no matter who the biological father was.
"There we go. There we go, shhh." André placated, holding Cressida close and tenderly to his chest as he bestowed a loving kiss to her puckered brow. "Let's get you to your Mama so Daddy André can change your sister while she waits." Perching on the edge of the bed André carefully passed over their eldest daughter, watching for a moment as Mia bonded with her, an identical look to the one Mia just had, was now upon his face, before he hurried to change their youngest out of her dirty nappy while she waited to be fed, humming to her as he soothed her cries.***
It seemed to the André-Weasley family that they had blinked and suddenly a month had passed bringing with it the twins one month and the Dragel Meet on the 25th May. Despite being first time parents they had settled into a rather easy routine with each of them taking it in turns to get up with Mia in the night to tend to their daughters. They had the twins vaccinated against all Wizarding and Muggle diseases but especially Dragon Pox as they didn't want to risk their babies' lives. Plus, Mia was feeling rather excited as at the end of the month Neville, Luna, Charlie, Bill and Fleur were coming to meet the twins using the special Portkey they had been gifted. So far, Hermione and Ron hadn't replied to any of her letters besides telling her to get Hedwig (who was very taken with the twins) to stop pecking incessantly at them.
Also during that time Mia had had a dry heat as her body got back into the rhythm of having them once more and they knew that the next one at the end of the month had a very high chance of being a fertile heat which meant they had to make arrangements for their daughters - who were coming along amazingly (and meeting all of their milestones, according to Healer Talbot), to spend the time with a member of their family. Luckily they had no shortage of people who would jump at the chance to have the twins for the week. As for work: André, and Damon and Fred could work from home (Damon as a consultant for the others of his team, André making potions in his lab, and Fred could come up with ideas and invent some in his own workshop), in between caring for the girls while Blaise studied to become a Warrior and Mia rested and studied her Healing Apprenticeship.
The day of the Dragel Meet in the Dragel Halls dawned bringing a rather hectic morning, and if it wasn't for Dobby who had packed the large changing bag for them full of everything they could possibly need for the Meet, they'd have never left the house in time.
"You look beautiful, my love." Fred complimented as Mia walked down the stairs in an icy blue skater dress with both twins in her arms, Cressida dressed in a rust orange dress with a butterfly pattern and Rowena dressed in an identical dress but in Hunter green so it didn't clash with her red hair.
"Thank you." Mia smiled. "You four don't look too bad yourselves. What do you think my darlings, do your Daddies look handsome?" She teasingly asked the girls who just huffed a laugh as they cooed at their mother, kicking their legs excitedly."We don't have to stay long." Blaise said, kissing Mia's temple lovingly before bowing his head to kiss his daughters, the other three copying his actions. "We know how exhausted you are, more so than us. So how bout we just stay for an hour? Show our exceedingly large family the twins and meet all of our nieces and nephews we haven't had the chance to meet yet and show the girls to their older cousins, have some dinner and then head home for an early night?"
"I don't know about you but that sounds like heaven, Blaise." Mia said in wonderment.
"That's settled then." André said firmly, as if his agreement settled the matter - as if they hadn't already spoken about this before Mia came down."Then once the girls are asleep we can get in our pyjamas and snuggle on the sofa watching a movie before we snuggle in bed for a while." Damon added, getting an excited smile from Mia and happy nods from the others.
"Let's go then!" Mia cried, strapping Rowena who had a cold a few days ago but was finally over it to her chest while Blaise strapped Cressida to his chest. Once they were satisfied the girls were safely secure, a hand protectively covering their heads they willed the shadows to take them to the Dragel Halls with Fred, Damon and André (who had the bag) bringing up the rear.
