Thanks to my friend Trooper-JJH for helping me with this story show his stories some love as well

My name is Louise, and my story is like no other and it all starts with how I lost one family but, gained another one. it all began on a safari gone very wrong. And that will be a day that I will never forget.

 No one's POV

The Sun was high in the sky shinning brightly down on the African savanna. The sound of the wind rustling the tall grass filled the air as the trees swayed gentle in the breeze. A heard of antelope bounded across the plains and numerous species of birds were seen perched on trees or flying threw the air. All of a sudden, a local bus shot by down a dusty dirt road. Inside was a family that moved to Africa due to the parents working at the newly constructed animal sanctuary. The father's name was Roger he worked as a zookeeper for the sanctuary and the mother was Cassandra she worked as a veterinarian. They brought both their sons with them due to them having a passionate love for animals. Their oldest boy was named Louise he is fifteen years old, blonde hair, green eyes, and stand at six feet tall. Their youngest son was named Roger Junior or RJ for short he was ten years old and had green eyes, brown hair, and stood at four feet five inches. Currently both boys were sticking their heads out the windows of the bus trying to catch a glimpse of any animals that might be standing nearby. While their parents sat in their seats talking about the sanctuary.

 Louise's POV

Louise and RJ were staring intensely out into the savannah hoping to see some animals. Just then RJ quickly pointed out towards a herd of antelope quickly bounding across the plain.

RJ: Look over there Louise antelope.

The little boy said with much excitement at his discovery. Louise looked in the direction of his brother's finger only to see the herd.

Louise: Yeah look at them go:

He said with a massive smile on his face. Their parents just looked at their sons excitement and could only let out a few chuckles. Then the youngest boy brought his head inside and asked his parents a very important question well at least to him.

RJ: Mom, dad, can I have an antelope as a pet please. The boy said with big puppy eyes. His father started to laugh while his mother just looked at him trying to figure out what to say to her youngest son.

Cassandra: Well, you see RJ I do not think that you can have an antelope as a pet. She said rubbing the back of neck.

RJ: What why not I promise to take very good care of it. I will feed it, play with it, give it a bath, I will even....He was cut of by his mother putting a finger to his mouth to silence him.

Cassandra: RJ the antelope need to be running free with their own kind and, I do not think that one of them would like to just stay with you. She said giving her son a small smile.

RJ lowered his head in defeat knowing his mother was right. But then His father stopped laughing and reached over and put a hand on his son's shoulder causing the young boy to look up and meet his father's gaze.

Roger: It is ok my boy I promise you can meet all the animals at the sanctuary, and I guarantee their will be an antelope or two for you to meet. He said giving the boy a smile. RJ perked up when he said that.

RJ: Really, I can help you look after the animals at the sanctuary. He said almost jumping up and down with excitement. This caused both parents to let out a few laughs before the mother picked up the boy and placed him on her lap and proceeding to wrap her arms around his back bringing him into a tight hug.

Cassandra: Yes, dear you can help us take care of all the animals at the sanctuary. She said smiling at the boy.

Just then they heard Louise speak up.

Louise: Hey look there it is the sanctuary. He said pointing towards the front of the bus. RJ got out of his parents grasp and looked in front of the bus to see the main building of the sanctuary coming into view. They drove through the gate and on their way up the main building the boys could see dozens of large fenced off pens for all the animals that the sanctuary will be caring for. And at the end of the road the boys saw the main building. The main building reassembled a modern-day animal shelter It was a square shaped building about two stories high. It was painted a tan color and had a flat roof with several solar panels placed on top.

RJ: Wow that is so cool. The boy said in aw.

The bus pulled up to the main entrance and the family disembarked from the bus with their belongings. As they were walking to the staff building where they would be staying RJ had just one question.

RJ: Dad when can we go on a safari trip? He said looking at his father.

Roger: I do not know bubby first I need to rent a vehicle from the town them we will see about going on a safari.

RJ: Ok dad. Time skipNo one's POVOnce the family got settled in at the staff building, they got back on the bus and headed to the town that was located near the sanctuary. Once their Roger found a dealer ship where he could acquire a vehicle. But there was just one small problem. Roger was now walking back to his family with a happy/worried look on his face.

Rodger: Alright they only had one jeep left so I got that the dealer told me that is has a few problems, but they should not be a real problem.

 Cassandra: Problems like what dear?

Roger: Well, the gas tank has a small leak in it, but it shouldn't be a real problem and he said it will make a few sputtering sounds from time to time. Cassandra let out a sigh after hearing what her husband just said

Cassandra: We should wait till he gets more in stock instead of driving a piece of junk. Then Roger walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulders.

Roger: Hey we promised we take the boys out on a safari. And this is the only thing we got and, I refuse to come all this way for nothing. He said with a stern look on his face.

Cassandra: Alright dear Let's get the boys and head out. She said returning her husband's smile.

After getting the boys and all the necessary things needed for their trip like food, water, and other tools. The family headed out in to the wilderness. It didn't take long for the family to start seeing animals. The boys were so happy getting to see all the different types of animals on the safari. From zebras, wildebeest, antelope, rhinos, even a few elephants. The family had been out for a few hours now and the sun was starting to set. They started to head back however; Louise noticed the jeep was making more noise than usual.

 Louise's POV

Louise: Hey dad I think the jeep is having some problems: he said with concern.

Roger: No son its all fine. He said trying to reuse his son. Just then a loud cracking noise was heard and the jeep came to sudden stop with smoke coming out of the engine block.

 Cassandra: Roger what happened.

Roger: I don't know I'll take a look and see what's wrong. He then turned to eldest son.

Roger: hey bud come here I need a light and you have the only lantern in your pack.

Louise let out a sigh and trotted over to his father while his mother had that look of 'I told you so" on her face. And RJ was in back of the jeep sound asleep.Roger lifted up the hood while Louise held the lantern up to provide light to his father. And right away his father noticed something was very wrong. There was a hole that went from the grill all the way to the engine. And it looked like a bullet hole.

Roger: Louise leave the lantern here and get back into the jeep with you mother right now he said sternly.

Louise: Ok dad.He turned around and started to walk back but, then a loud thunderous sound was heard. Louise turned around to see his father had a gunshot through his head. He then noticed a group of men standing on a hill next to them and one of them was holding a rifle that had smoke coming out of the barrel.
