The sound of sirens ricochet through the hallways as red lights flashed, emphasizing their highest pitch. Mya quickly sat up in her bed to the long - wailing melody that pierces everyone's ears. She looked around noticing herself in a room. A bed she was currently laying in, a toilet and a closet were the only things in the room.
Mya looked at what was in front of her and saw a door with a small tinted square window at the top of it. She hurried out of bed in her black silk nightgown to peak her head over to look through the window. Only then to realize it was her reflection.
In the distance you can hear a loud unlocking sound happening one by one until it got closer. When it got to Myas door, she stood back to hear the lock of the door shift as it then continued down the rest of the hallway.
Mya quickly opened the door to see a horde of people running past her room. She could hear the horrific screams coming from just down the hall. She looked in the direction of horror, but couldn't see past the people that were running.
Mya was confused and curious to know what exactly was going on. She couldn't remember how she got here in this mess. Her heart beat is pacing. Why is everyone running? Why is everyone being let out? Most importantly, why is everyone screaming?
There are so many questions running through her mind that she started running the opposite direction as everyone else.
Samir ran amongst the others, noticing Mya going the wrong way.
"Are you insane!?"
Samir took hold of Myas wrist. His dark blue eyes stared deep into hers. She nudged her arm and quickly got out of his grasp.
"I must know what is going on!" Mya replied.
"You don't want to go back there! Officers are killing us one by one!" Samir shouted back with terror in his eyes.
Mya looked at him shockingly and looked back noticing gunfire can be heard not too far away.
"Come on! We have to run!" Samir took her wrist once more and began pulling her alongside him.
Mya couldn't comprehend the reality she is living in at this very moment. Everything was happening so fast.
They both ran farther and farther down what felt like an endless hallway as the screams were right behind them. Mya turned her head to look and saw the people in the very back falling like dominos as each gun was shot.
"Oh my god!" Mya yelled with tears in her eyes. She didn't want to die, not yet.
"Come on!" Samir pulled harder as he held Myas wrist tightly.
People began towering over each other right behind them. Mya looked back again only for both her and Samir to fall onto the ground by being grabbed from the ankles. She looked at Samir who was staring directly back at her. He opened his mouth without actually using his vocal cords.
"Play dead."
