My name is Chloe. I live in a small village in Florida. My hobbies include, reading, singing, cleaning, and volunteering at the local nursing center. I have long black hair, brown eyes, and curves in all the right places, I'm not conceded in any way but I have to admit, I was not bad looking in any way.
Father was a well known farmer here and always was experimenting on different vegetables and fruits, trying to make the biggest, juiciest, and most flavorful foods. He wasn't bad at it by any means but the village people weren't too keen on change. So trying something new was unheard of.
I was not liked in this village simply because I had caught the eye of the richest man who basically ruled here. His name was Stephan and he was, in my eyes, a disgrace to humankind. He was always rude to everyone he spoke to, he had no manners, was disrespectful, way to cocky, and was just overall a rich snob.
My father had decided, since he was down on his luck in selling his crop, that he would make a deal with Stephan. The deal was that My father was to give Stephan my hand in marriage and in return Stephan would give my father an allowance if you will of 400,000 a year to live off of and continue his work. Of course I objected but what can I say, I'm a woman and in these days, woman weren't heard.
That is why I have decided to run. I couldn't marry a man I didn't love and I refused to be unheard. I was not going to fall in line and be obedient.
I was currently in my room shoving everything I could into a sack while my father was writing up the details for his "deal". I had planned on leaving while the men were preoccupied and now was the perfect time to do so. It was nightfall so I knew I could leave without being seen.
As I walked down the hallways, I took one last glance at the house we lived in. We had lived here for about 4 years and I never once was able to call it home. I had no friends, sure I volunteered at the nursing center but that was always because I enjoyed helping others, even if those 'others' were rude. It was to keep myself busy. I also had no family. My father had betrayed me. My mom would never approve of what my dad was doing. She had died years before we moved here.
I could hear the men talking upstairs and the clinking of glasses and I took that as my cue to go. I softly and quietly opened the door, careful to shut it back when I stepped outside. As soon as I knew they hadn't heard I took off running towards the barn that held my horse Boone. He was a beautiful grey speckled horse and I wasn't about to leave him. I knew my father would slaughter him without me here.
When I reached the barn I made quick with the rains and made sure to tie my sack to them to make sure it didn't fall. I didn't bother with a saddle knowing time was precious and not on my side tonight.
I quickly jumped on boones back when he kneeled in front of me. With one last glance, we took off into the night. Not slowing down until I knew we had a good enough distance between us and what was going to be life had I not escaped.
After a few hours, I pulled Boone to a stop near a river so he could drink and I could rest my legs and bum that were sore and stiff. I knew we were in a part of the woods that no one would venture into and so I decided we would make camp here. That is until I heard the deafening sound of a dragon roar.
Yes dragons exist. Did I forget to mention that? Oops.
I quickly jumped back on Boone and kicked him with my heal not making a sound so I wouldn't alert the beast. Even though it could probably smell us. To my dismay, I heard the loud whooshing and flapping sound of wings. I looked up to see the biggest dragon I've ever seen in my life. I've seen them every now again while they were "hunting".
Once a week we would take the fattest live stock and offer the. up as a sacrifice if you will, so the beast would not harm us. I was too curious for my own good and just had to peak out the window of my room. The one I saw was big but not nearly as big as this one was!!
I could feel myself tremble at the thought that it was taunting us. Flying above us  and playing with its food. I just knew we had to leave this area. As far as I knew this was "dragons" land. So we kept going. It was only when we came up a giant gateway that we slowed. I led us through it and what I saw had my breath hitch in my throat. I was a beautiful castle! Exactly what you would see in a movie!! It had the beautiful fountain with a pathway all around it. Flowers and bushes everywhere. It was beautiful.
I had heard a legend that spoke of a king and his kingdom being cursed  having turned into dragons. That was why villagers never ventured into the forest, for fear of being caught and eaten or mauled by one. Of course said legends were just that. Simply legends. I knew dragons were real but the thought of someone turning into them was just. Out of question.
After ogling the castle and it's surroundings I spotted what looked like a stable. So, I jumped off Boone and made our way to it. When we got inside it was excavator what I thought it was, a stable. But it had no horses inside. I decided we would sleep here for the night. Under safe cover. Come morning we would leave and set off to our new destination. I had no idea where that was, but I knew I had to go farther then what I already was. I knew we couldn't go to the city. I had no money and had a horse!! I would probably have to find a nice spot in a wooded place and build my own little cabin. Yes I know how to build things. Again, I read. It couldn't be that hard.
With that thought, I cuddled up to Boone who had already made himself comfortable, and fell asleep with a smile on my face. Dreaming of our new life of freedom.
