2. The Institute
I was on the steps of the Institute wondering what lied beyond the big doors. Would it be more demons? Humans? Nephilim? I'm not sure, but I built up the nerve to try and open the door. To my surprise, it opened! I turned around for James approval but he wasn't there. I felt the urge to find him. I turned back around and there was a woman who looked about 20 with blonde hair and dark green eyes.
"Who are you?" She said astonished.
"I'm Jennifer-" Once again, interrupted.
"How in the world did you manage to open this door?" She nearly shouted.
"I-I don't know, I just opened it. Sorry. " I stuttered.
"Don't be my dearest Rose." James soothed as he turned towards the woman. "Shall we go to the sanctuary?"
"Not you again." She heavily sighed when she looked at James. "Yes, I need you both to explain what's going on. Let me get the others."
She went back inside and while she did that I went back to James. I felt the safest when I was near him. He did save me after all.
"James. They won't hurt us right?" I whispered.
"Of course not, I'd expect you to be a lot more frightened my me." He chuckled.
"No! You saved me! I feel safe around you." I assured him.
He slightly smiled.
"They're heading to the sanctuary. Come along now." I heard the woman say behind us. I hope she didn't hear me.
We were led around the building to a place called the Sanctuary where what they called "downworlders" could go in. Including vampires like James. Once we got in I realized it was a bit posh here. But I guess old buildings were like that. We sat down and I sat next to James and the woman who opened the door in front of us on the opposing side.
"I'm Cara. You must be?" Cara asked.
"I'm Jennifer ... " I paused just to make sure she wouldn't interrupt. "Rose Taylor" I finished.
"So tell us what brought you here." She said with curiosity in her voice.
As if on cue, 2 guys and 1 girl stepped in the room. They seemed to have tattoos all over their visible skin. They looked so young , that I figured they were probably in a lot of trouble for it.
The 1st boy, who introduced himself as Will was tall and slightly muscular. He had purple/gray eyes and brown hair. The girl was named Elise and she had long lavender hair with hazel eyes. She was really pretty. The 2nd boys name was Andrew, he was very handsome. He had black hair with shocking blue eyes and a well built body. I was a bit dazed at his face, so when they asked a question I turned bright red because I noticed him noticing me staring at him. This has got to be the day of blushing.
"Jennifer? What did the demon tell you?" Cara asked impatiently.
"Oh... Um. I... She disguised herself as a student and started asking me questions." I sheepishly replied.
Cara asked for more detail and the exact events. So I began the story and I told them everything. When we got to James saving me, they started to question him and why he saved me instead of killing me, After all "it was his nature" I mocked her voice inside my head.
"She looked like she was different, not a mundane nor a downworlder, so I decided to save her. Besides that, she's a pretty girl." He said with a smug look.
That's what made me blush again, not as much as last time but enough to show. Today was not my day and I felt like this was how it would be for a long time. They went in talking about important things and they were very sure I was a Shadowhunter. Now they just needed conformation from someone called a silent brother. Might as well.
