"Your just lovely as ever, Y/N." A short old women grasped your hands into her own. "And these herbs are really helping this sore throat!"
"I'm glad to hear!" You smiled while squeezing the frail lady hands, "Please make sure you are taking care of yourself!"
The women exited your store with a farewell and wishes for the best. You continued your work, packaging medicinal herbs and ointments. You hummed a slight tone and tapped your feet on the old wooden floors, which caused slight creaks in the wood. When a unforeseen commotion occurred outside. It was unusual for the small populated town to have any type of action. You slowly walked towards the door, hesitant to open it to the unknown. When you walked out, you noticed mummers of citizens and the sound of hooves of horses, at least a dozen.
Finally making your way to the front of the crowd you saw the commotion, the royal guard stood high and mighty. Your eyes scanned the gold placed on their armor naming the imperial knights all the way to their shined boots. A gasp was let out from the crowd, when a sickly man stumbled out to the path made for the highly powered men. One knight stopped and held a sharp steel sword to neck of the shaky man. Your feet started to move on their own, shuffling towards the two men.
"What's wrong with you? He's clearly ill and weak!" You shouted at the smirked faced knight. You kneeled towards the frightened man reassuring he would be okay.
"Lady, I recommend you move or your fellow citizens will have to clean up two heads." The sword was now facing towards your neck however you didn't flinch nor moved.
"You should be ashamed of yourself." You took out a cloth from your pocket and swiftly moved out of swords point but now towards the knight. You placed the cloth on his mouth which he collapsed in a instant.
Immediately after, knight's rushed towards you, pinning your arms behind your back and making you once again knell.
"What is this?" One knight slightly sniffed the cloth and placed it inside of felt bag.
"I wouldn't do that again. It's salvia divinorum, a herb of the mint family. However it causes dizziness and a loss of control over your body. Too much inhale can cause... well you know." You explained with spite laced in your voice. The grip on your arm tightened, making your hiss at the pain.
"Sir, it's nothing to worry about! Jus-Just a slight distraction in the path!" A man shaked upon the site of a blonde fella.
The man walked towards you, holding a longsword towards your neck, again, "Did you do this?" He asked not taking his eyes off your lowered head, you stayed silent.
"Answer the king, you bitch." A knight whispered.
Your eyes widened as you felt your hands trumble against the ground, "Yes".
"See, I don't like when witches mess with my knights nor myself." The sword got closer towards your neck, piercing your thin layer of skin.
You lifted your head to face the king, as the sword moved with your neck, "Herbalist. I am a herbalist, not a witch."
You now saw the king clear for the first time. He was young and had stiff eyebrows that matched his also stiff mouth.
The knight tossed you to the dirt. You lifted yourself, your elbows shaking warning you about your soon to come collapse. The king kneeled to the ground and grasped your face with his hand, observing you and the dirt collected on yourself.
"You will live in the palace, witch."
