Do you remember feeling invincible? When there was trouble, it was us against the world?

I couldn't have been more stupid. The girl who I was looking for had been beside me the whole entire time. For seven years. She was there for me whenever I was hurting about anything, she was there whenever I achieved something, and I never would have thought that my partner in crime would be my best friend. Now she was gone.

She left without an explanation to Vicenza, Italy, and I only found out today. It sucks, right?

The day I found out that she was gone was also the day where I was about to tell her my feelings. I looked like an idiot. Only the nice nanny they had for years was living there now, and she felt so bad for me. There I was, sitting on the porch with her favorite bouquet of flowers as the nanny answered the door.

"Toby, what are you doing here?" she asks me.

"I'm waiting for Summer," I say.

The look on her face when she heard my reply was unforgettable. "Oh, honey, I hate to tell you this, but they left. They're in Vicenza by now, in Italy. Didn't she tell you?"

I didn't know how to react. I was crushed, and I was tempted to throw the flowers away in a bin of flames. "Do you want to stay?" she asked. There was a sudden urge for me to tell her everything that Summer and I have been through, just to get rid of the pain. I nodded, and pretty soon I was back inside the familiar but empty house.

I was told to make myself comfortable while she was bringing out refreshments. She came back a few minutes later with two mason jars filled with lemonade and sugar cookies, the ones I would usually eat when I waited for Summer to finish her MMA training after school.

"So, you wouldn't mind telling me what these flowers are for, right?" she asks after sipping on her drink.

I nodded. "It was for Summer. I was supposed to tell her I was wrong and I love her. Actually, I have so many things that I just want to talk to you about. Just to get rid of the pain...."
