I couldn't help but ask for you to say it all again
I tried to write it down, but I could never find a pen
The timid sunrays peeking through the blue curtains wake Megumi up with all the tenderness and grace of a mother's caress - not that he has ever known how that feels.
Everything is so warm around him, so stupidly cozy it takes him longer than usual to blink away the haze of sleep and realize his curtains aren't blue, but rather gray. And that he's also always naturally cold, especially under the chilly air of the early morning washing away the condensed heat of the previous day.
He snaps awake as quickly as he realizes he isn't in his room - head spinning slightly when he tries to sit up and can't, confusion taking a hold of him until a ball of anxiety is starting to form deep inside his stomach.
But then-
"Hmph" A soft groan to his nape - protesting still deep in his sleep.
The embrace around Megumi's waist tightens and he looks down, tentatively running his cold fingers up a bronzed forearm, eliciting a sight and soft lips brushing up the side of his neck.
And with that, his anxiety simply melts away.
Megumi allows his heart to reset its pace as he closes his eyes and goes through the memories of last night inside his head. He's in Yuuji's bed, they've cuddled all night and he has never slept as well as he has done tonight between his arms.
All night - he can't help but smile at the promise Yuuji made and kept, perhaps unintentionally but Megumi can't bother to care.
If it ended up being just a coincidence instead of a plan it only makes it even more especial.
Even though there's nothing he wants more than to snuggle back into Yuuji's chest and sleep the morning away, he actually needs to go to the bathroom.
Also, he has morning training with Maki, she's only here for a couple days and there's a lot he wants to practice with her - it's not every day you get the chance to get some really useful advice from the head of the Zen'in clan.
Megumi sits up then, this time for real, still unable to untangle himself from Yuuji - he's got his arms wrapped around his hips now, face pressed to Megumi's thigh, snoring faintly in a way that makes his skin tickle with every exhale. He can't help but run his fingers through pink soft strands of hair, smiling fondly at the way he seems to chase the touch even in his sleep.
God, he's really deep into it, isn't him?
"You shouldn't get too attached, you know? He isn't going to last much."
Sukuna.
Megumi frowns and ignores the way the short hairs on his nape stand up - a cold chill running down his back, killing all the warmth Yuuji has been giving him through the night.
That's the king of curses for you, someone capable to drown the light of the brightest sun with just a few twisted words.
"I'll poke your eye, Sukuna, don't try me." Megumi bites back lowly, not even bothering to look at the red eye staring from Yuuji's cheek.
The truth is it lacks venom - he's just really tired of this whole situation and the curse's arrogance and overconfidence about it.
Also, perhaps, his words have hit closer to Megumi's heart that he wants to admit.
As Sukuna laughs -deep and ominous, somehow- Megumi carefully sets Yuuji's arms aside before slipping out of the bed with all the stealth he can muster. Judging by Yuuji's reaction, however, he could've actually push him off the bed and Megumi is sure he wouldn't have even noticed.
