My One and Only

Chapter 16

Sakura could hear the loud shouting of various men outside. 

The only one of them who didn't seem to be shouting out of pain was the voice of shark man. It seemed to be only a few minutes before the door was swinging open again and Itachi and Kisame shuffled back inside. Sakura had huddled in a little corner, growing scared because of all the shrieks she was hearing.

She looked up at them only to immediately wished she hadn't and ended up staring in abject horror at the blood covering their garments. It was everywhere. Kisame looked at her, looking straight like something out of a nightmare now with all the blood now covering him, and smirked. She very nearly screamed and scooted further back into her corner.

"What's that face for?" Shark man taunted, stepping closer to her.

"Kisame. Take off your outer robe." Itachi interrupted before he could come any closer. Kisame turned to Itachi, who was busy folding the said blood-soaked clothing.

Following Itachi's lead, Kisame also took off his outer robe and threw it haphazardly in a pile on top of Itachi's. 

"Unlucky bastards," Kisame chuckled, "I can bet they wouldn't have attacked if they'd known we were in here." He sat lumberingly in his seat.

Sakura didn't think it was all that funny that they had just murdered a bunch of people even if they had attacked.

Itachi sat as well and looked towards Sakura, who was still more or less huddled in the corner. "Sakura, come here."

Taking that as meaning to sit back in her seat, she stood up and sat next to him again. It hadn't meant that apparently, because as soon as she sat down he made a noise of discontent and reached out to her, wrapping his arms around her and lifting her up and into his lap.

He buried his nose in her hair, she cringed slightly at the scent of blood still on him. Shark man wisely kept his mouth shut at the scene in front of him.

With a sniff at himself, Kisame stated, "We should find a lake somewhere."

Itachi hummed, the sound vibrating pleasantly in Sakura's ear, before lifting his head up to look out the window. Sakura's head fell to his chest and he cradled it slightly with his hand.

"I don't think we'll find a lake anywhere here," Itachi responded, some of his fingers threading through her hair.

Kisame grunted, but said nothing, gazing out the window as well. 

Hours passed and they ended up not finding a lake after all. When they finally arrived at the Uchiha estate, Sakura burst out of Itachi's lap and out of the carriage. The scent of blood coming from their clothes had been strong.

Itachi followed after her and Sakura took the opportunity to finally stretch her legs after so many hours in the same position. Kisame grabbed the two garments from the floor, the blood on them now having dried up.

Sakura looked around. They were in front of a large white gate with an elegant-looking house behind it. The surrounding areas were covered in greenery and a few flower gardens. Itachi came up behind her and placed his hand on the small of her back as he leads her to the front gates.

Before they could reach the entrance, the gates opened up and a beautiful black-haired woman came running out. Sakura recognized her as queen Mikoto. 

The woman ran right up to them and nearly tackled Itachi into a bear hug, fondly referring to him as, "Ita-chan." Sakura heard muffled laughter coming from somewhere behind them.

After Itachi had successfully pried his mother off himself, she turned to his right and, as if finally realizing Sakura had been there all along, gasped, "Is this Sakura-chan?" Without waiting for a response, Mikoto pounced on her, cooing about how adorable she was and pinching her cheeks until they were red.

"Well," Mikoto said clapping her hands, "come in, come in. Everyone else is already here."

She turned and led them through the white gates and onto a stone path leading to the front door. Sakura rubbed her sore cheeks and pouted as she walked beside Itachi. Kisame not too far behind them.

I'm sorry about the delay, I've had a bit of an off week and been busy with school starting and all that. I'll try my best but the next chapter will also most likely be a bit late.
