After Monoma's strange behavior, you had talked to him once it was the afternoon. He had calmed down, from whatever that was, and the two of you talked about the second challenge. From the clues you were given in the message, both of you guessed that you would be doing a sort of physical activity in the water.

So the next day, you find yourself decked out in a swimsuit, wearing a t-shirt and shorts over it, a pair of water goggles safely tucked in your back pocket. Once you arrive at the campfire, which had been designated the meeting spot for all challenges, you weave your way through the crowd until you spot Monoma, sitting on one of the logs.

"Hey," he's smiling as you sit down and you smile back, albeit a little bit nervous. You can feel sweat trickle down your forehead, but you quickly brush it off.

"Ready for the challenge? Did you bring your swimsuit?" Monoma's surveying the rest of students, noticing you guys weren't the only ones prepared. Some students even showed up with pool noodles and floaters, and you wonder if you should've brought some as well.

"Don't mind them," the blonde brushes off your worries. "We're going to be using our body, I don't think a floatie will help much.''

You sigh, nodding reluctantly in agreement. Clasping your hands and rubbing them together, you begin to tap your foot anxiously.

Monoma seems to notice your nervousness. He lets out a low sigh, and you hope it's not out of annoyance.

''Y/N," one of his hands squeezes your shoulder, and it makes your body slightly relax. "Don't worry about it. We'll ace the challenge, yeah? We've always aced everything. And together, we'll be unstoppable." You chuckle, tilting your head to meet Monoma's gaze, who's already looking your way.

His light blue eyes are a bit startling, especially when they're completely fixated on you. And his hand is still on your shoulder, and it feels....nice. You like how it feels. And you can't deny the butterflies in your stomach, or how your knees would've buckled over if you weren't sitting down.

"So..." You barely muster enough energy for one word, hoping it'll break the spell it feels that Monoma's cast upon you. But you're not quite sure if you want to break out of it.

Instead of pulling away- although a part of you is glad he didn't,- Monoma frowns, his eyes staring into yours, like if he's trying to reach deep into your soul. It's both unsettling and exciting.

He clears his throat, the hand on your shoulder dropping to his side. "Listen, I wanted to tell you something. I,-" And it feels like fate's out to tear you apart, as Inasa's loud shouting cuts through his sentence, as the tall boy waves and walks towards you two.

"Y/N! HEY!" He's tremendously loud and you're pretty sure he's caught the attention of everyone within a ten mile radius. You send him an awkward smile, waving back. And you hope he'll leave it at that, but he seems to take it as an invitation, as he keeps walking towards you. With a sigh, you turn to look at Monoma, whose eyes are narrowed as he scowls.

"I'm sorry about that. What did you want to tell me?" And you're genuinely curious, the interest gnawing at your mind.

But Monoma shakes his head with a smile. "It's nothing important.''

Even after everyone begins to walk towards the pier of the lake, you can't shake off the feeling of unrest that's boiling in your stomach. What did Monoma want to tell you, and why did he hold himself back from saying it? Is it really important, or was it just something minor? God, you want to know.

But your mind quickly focuses on other things as your two high school teachers stand at the end of the lake's pier, arms crossed as they wait for everyone to arrive. You're walking in a line, with Monoma behind you. And you can feel his eyes on you, only increasing your sense of anxiety and dread. But the same anxiety holds you back from turning around and asking him what he wanted to say. What if it's something bad? Maybe you're better off not knowing. But at the same time, you're not sure if you could live with such curiosity.
