You open your eyes, stirring from your slumber and your heartbeat slows as you take in your surroundings. The room is simple, just as you like it. Your walls a dark grey, curtains black; however, your body is contorted rather wildly within the comfort of your thrall of blankets.

'... another nightmare.'

You shut your eyes tight in attempt to shake away the miserable, horrifying memories, but only see his face in the darkness behind your lids. Your eyes shoot open and your heartbeat races once again.
Attempting to calm yourself, you take to your surroundings once more.

The apartment, although new, has become quite comfortable to consider home. With only living here 2 weeks you still struggle to remember which cabinet holds the bowls and always accidentally opening the cup cabinet in turn.

The clock at your bedside reads 5:25am and you decide to roll out of bed as your stomach gives off a desperate rumble.

' There better be food in that fridge..'

The apartment is small but neatly put together, as you should expect from top government funding. Minimal and modern decor is neatly displayed throughout the dimly lit space. The sun hasn't quite risen yet and the city lights are still breathtaking through the floor to ceiling windows lining the living room and kitchen area.

Your bare feet pad against the cold grey floor and you're reminded of your nightmare once again.

Mentally reprimanding yourself for feeling so weak and scared, you open the fridge door.

"You're kidding...", you breathe out in irritation.

Nothing but water bottles reside within the fridge. You swipe one as you roll your eyes and turn to the kitchen island behind you.

"Fruit it is."

Picking up a peach from the metal bowl on the countertop, you stride across the room once again to sit on the couch, water bottle and fruit in hand.

You flick on the news channel hoping to catch a weather report and maybe some entertaining disasters.

You smile to yourself when the reporter states rain is to be expected. Rain... it was comforting to you. You could never figure out why, but the grey-ish fog that hung low in the air, the greenish blue haze that colored the sky, and the wet splash of raindrops always brought a subtle smile to your lips.

You start to lose track of time as you eat away at your breakfast and take in the events on the screen before you, until your hear a knock at your door.
