A new year of school was just around the corner. New teachers, old friends, new subjects, and same old stupidity that gets worse. Moving back from Africa is not fun. The jet lag was horrible the first week. Emily was my only friend. We were inseparable last year and befriended two people named Shiori and Skye. Eight grade, here we come.
All of us decided that we would have a get together the day before school started and today was that day. Everyone else was at Skye's house before me so they somehow got it into their little minds that Emily would look good with blue hair. It was chaos. Shiori was somehow passed out on top of the wardrobe (probably because they do truth and dare a lot.). I soon joined the band wagon while Skye got the supplies to dye Emily's hair.
"I have the Kool-Aid!" screamed Skye as she ran into the room with a pot of boiling water in one hand and a handful of Kool-Aid packets. We started immediately. I somehow had gotten dragged into this mess and hopped onto the bandwagon.
"Get it off of me," Emily whispered. "IT BURNS!"
Skye decided to try to calm her. "It's supposed to burn. The worst thing that can happen it burns off some hair."
"GET IT OFF OF ME!"
"It hasn't set yet if we wash it out now, it won't stay."
"Does it look like I care?" Emily asked, her anger rising. Oh no. She is going to explode. I slowly backed away. And like I predicted, she exploded. "I HONESTLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THIS, SKYE!"
It took a while to calm down Emily, and after the dye had set, her hair was a light blue. Shiori sat upon the wardrobe with her legs dangling over the side as she yawned.
"Why does Emily look like an Avatar?" she asked. "She looks like one just without the blue skin and designs."
"Do my hair, now," I demanded. Emily sighed and did my hair. It does burn. The next day, Skye's mom nearly killed us when she saw that we dyed Emily's hair. Skye ended up unable to watch the TV for the next week. We high tailed it out and got onto the bus. Skye started babbling about chipmunks.
"Did you know that chipmunks can keep about six gigantic walnuts in their mouth at one time?"
Emily was about to explode then she snapped. "Skye, WE DON'T CARE!"
