You made my metaphors
Redundant and boring
And my similes became something
Shakespeare would scoff at
You made my sonnets
Always have a missing syllable
My haikus are nothing without you
You became
A song without a hook
A chorus without a rhyme
A novel without a finish
And a musical with no male lead
The phrases I once used for you
My Romeo to your Juliet
Now seem so cliché
And I can't look at any of my
Old poems
Written for you
Without wondering
Why I ever thought you were
My sun
And I was your moon
I wrote to you a thousand times
A thousand songs worth singing
In the most beautiful
Heavenly Chorus
Imagined
I wrote to you a million times
A million poems worth screaming
At the most niche café in Portland
I cried for you a thousand times
On the nights we used to share
I'd look at the moon
And think of your eyes
And how they used to stare into mine
Soft
And
Warm
Kissing deep into my soul
Without ever even knowing me
But I knew you
I knew what you were
Who you were
And yet I stayed
I lived for those nights
Stayed late near my computer screen
Crying for your attention
And laughing
At your cheesy pick up lines
And I died
At that same computer screen
Yet again crying
For the attention
Of someone I thought loved me
And laughing at myself
For ever being so ignorant
To think someone like you
Could ever truly want
Someone like me
I never deserved you
And I knew that
And yet I still wrote you
A thousand poems that
You'll never even see
I sang to you
A thousand songs that
You'll never hear on the radio
In your car rides home from the beach
The smell of your perfume laced cologne
Will stick with me for as long as I live
But you'll never know the sight of my own
Rose colored sunrise
Something
I always wanted you to see
But you extinguished it
In a fury of passion
That I never knew
And never will know
