"So you're telling me Wanda broke the coffee machine," you marched down the corridor while a certain speedster followed you in toe.

"Well, yes." He continued to follow you, walking backwards and almost tripping on his heels, "You seem, much more sporadic this morning."

You whirled around you face him, your lab coat flying out behind you. "What time is it? No, what date is it? Nevermind, not important."

He gazed at you with wide blue eyes as you continued to ramble, "Uh, Y/n? You good?"

You rolled your eyes at the frown that formed on his face. Pietro mumbled something inaudible as you swiped your key card and entered through the double doors of the lab. He was promptly locked out, thanks to protocol, leaving you alone to his dismay. Though what he didn't know, was the two scientists already examining the Winter Soldier before you.

"Um, excuse me?" You frowned and set your clipboard aside, "What are you people doing here, in my workspace?"

"We're just following up on a previous appointment."

You immediately slapped one of them over the head with a manila folder, "Did I give you authorization to get touch him? Get out. I have shit to do."

"But, ma'am, with all do respect—"

You pulled a handgun that you kept hidden under hour belt, and aimed it between one of the men's eyes. "I'm operating on three hours of sleep right now, and I skipped my morning coffee. So, you have three seconds to leave the premises before I get trigger happy."

Both men stiffened, and threw their hands up. Everyone who knew you at Hydra, knew you were quite dangerous without caffeine. Both men nodded vigorously and quickly evacuated the lab. You dropped your arm and sighed heavily, brushing your hair back and out of your face. You turned to see the soldier gazing at you almost in awe.

"Can I help you?"

He shook his head slowly, his blue eyes unblinking. You rubbed your bloodshot eyes, squinting with irritation. Your muscles were still sore, and honestly you just felt like keeling over. He seemed to notice this as he spoke cautiously, "Are...you okay..?"

"Wh—Hm?" You pinched the bridge of your nose, a ringing forming in your ear, "Sure, yeah. I guess."

His expression proved he didn't believe you. He watched as you walked around and sat at a table nearby, rubbing your temple with a tired groan. "So, you—We have a mission upcoming," you shifted through some files. "We'll be flying out to Washington in the next few days. Our target is Nick Fury."

You swiveled around on the chair, holding up a photo of the man in question. "He's a member of the CIA and Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Some of our men will be undercover as police escorts, and it will be our job to take him out."

You leaned forward in the chair, resting your elbows on your knees. "It's my first actual mission outside, so," you frowned. "I have no clue what I'm doing."

"Just leave everything to me," you cocked a brow at his voice.

"I can take care if myself you know, you sound like my brother," you sighed. "Actually, wait, you've been outside before haven't you?"

Your eyes lit up as you leaned forward in the chair, "Tell me all about it!"

"Oh, uh—" His eyes darted back and forth before landing on you again, "Yes, I have. Haven't you?"

You pursed your lips, "Nope. I'm not allowed outside the compound, neither are my siblings. I grew up surrounded by metal walls."

"Oh," he scratched the back of his neck. "Well, uh, there's usually trees and stuff. Cars, roads."
