Catra had defected from the Horde only a few weeks ago. With the help of Scorpia, Catra was accepted into the Rebellion. The Queen, Glimmer, offered to give Catra a spare room but Catra wanted to share a room with Adora, and she agreed.
Though they shared the same room, they never talked much, except for speaking small pleasantries or simple good mornings and good nights. And it's not like Catra didn't try, she'd even admit that she'd rather rekindle their friendship then have the ashes blow away and be lost forever. But sadly, Adora ignored her, and Catra wouldn't complain. Catra knew Adora's trust was long gone.
Or so she thought.
She would've never expected the events that occurred today.
Catra was silently reading a book while laying upside down on Adora's bed. It was about some girl traveling to a whole different place trying to accomplish her dream of being a witch. It was weird Catra would admit but she liked the story.
Then that silence became loud.
"Why can't you trust me, Adora?!" Glimmers muffled voice yelled through the hallway. This made Catra jump completely off the bed.
"How can I if all you're doing is completely crazy!" Catra ran to the door and peaked through it.
"Think about it! If we harvest the power of Etheria, we can stop the Horde and the rest of his empire once and for-"
"Are you deaf?! Etheria. Will! Be! Destroyed! And it almost happened with Mara! I'm trying to do it without using that option but you're not helping! So why can't you trust me?!" Adora yelled.
"Well maybe I'd trust you if you hadn't let my mother die!" Glimmer regretted what she said instantly. "Adora I-"
"You're right." Adora looked away.
"No Adora, that's not-"
"Maybe, if I tried harder to stop the portal from opening, nothing would have happened. But I'm just weak, right?" She asked and looked at Glimmer.
"Maybe if I never found that damn sword, Catra wouldn't hate me. You would have never even met me, and Hope wouldn't have used me as a weapon." Adora began to breath heavily and tears started to roll down her cheeks. "Maybe, if I knew why I was here I'd know what to do. But no! I was taken from my apparent home planet just to be sent here to die!"
Adora's body slowly started to grow brightly, making Glimmer step back from her. "Without She-re who am I?! I can't learn to want like you guys because I was born to just be told things, so I'm sorry I'm trying to do something on my own!" Adora lifted her hand and clutched her shirt, over her heart.
"I never wanted this to happen but of course I'm not allowed to want things! But at least you do! It's not like the whole world is being slammed onto your shoulders! It feels like I'm the only one trying to keep this world in one piece and it hurts!"
"So, I'm sorry that I'm She-ra. I'm sorry that as She-ra I couldn't keep your mothers promise to protect you! But you know what? What's the point in trying when nothing will ever go MY. WAY!" Adora's body burst in blinding light and suddenly the floor cracked and cratered beneath her as windows shattered within her radius.
