"Oh, come on!" I repeated, aiming my gun higher. When I fired it a couple more times, I then saw that the bullet holes were a lot closer to the middle. I nodded my head in satisfaction. That was where I wanted them to go.
"And, stop!" Sargent Carswell hollered. I lowered my gun, which was unloaded and placed it back on the table beside me and Ellie, my classmate and best friend. Ellie did the same with hers. "Great work you two! Everyone else as well! How about we call it a day and we'll resume again tomorrow, first thing in the morning?" he suggested.
"I'm down!" Jackson called out loudly, causing a bunch of us to laugh.
Carswell rolled his eyes in annoyance. "You guys can go." he announced with a chuckle. I picked up the gun and gave it back to Carswell, who reloaded it and stuck it in the holder strapped to his leg. "How did that gun feel?" he asked us, stopping in front of both Ellie and I.
"I've held and used a real one dozens of times now, so, the same as always." I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes at him. "I don't know why we can't use these kinds. Ellie and I already work in the precinct."
"Always good to remember your basics. And second, I was talking to Ellie." Carswell laughed. I felt my cheeks turning red from embarrassment and I blinked. Whoops.
"Oh, it was good! Definitely different from a pellet one and our standard pistols we use, that's for sure." Ellie mentioned to him.
"Told you, didn't I?" he chuckled.
"Yeah, yeah." Ellie mumbled, grabbing her things and making her way out the door. "Yo, Matthews!"
"See you tomorrow morning Carswell." I smiled at him. He waved goodbye as I grabbed my purse and followed my fellow officers and Ellie out the classroom door.
"Hey, what are you up to tonight? We should go for some drinks. I'm craving some martinis so bad right now." Ellie suggested, her mouth watering at the thought of alcohol.
"And you keep saying that I'm the one who drinks the most," I said, rolling my eyes as I pushed through the main doors and walked over to where the set of trees were.
Ellie glared at me. "Very funny. But yes, I'd be down. We can after we get home? I want to shower snd change before we head out, if that's okay? I'm not wearing my police uniform out there." I said to her.
"Of course! I just need to change and put on some makeup. Because there's no way in hell that I'm going out looking like shit." Ellie said, making a disgusted face when she thought of herself at a club in her school clothes.
"Fair point. Hey! Jackson!" I called out to him when I saw him outside. When he heard his name, he skipped over to us and stopped in front of us. "You, me, Ellie, drinks. Don't know where yet, but you down?" I asked him.
"Absolutely, I'm down," Jackson grinned. This guy will never say no to booze. "Just let me know when you girls are ready and I'll meet you at whichever club you decide to go to."
"Sounds good." I pulled out my iPhone when I felt it buzz. I stared at the message that I had just received. "Hey, so Ryder just pulled up. I'll text you guys in a bit."
"Perfect. We'll see you soon! And tell Ryder we said hey and thanks for getting us in!" Ellie called out to me. I gave her a thumbs up as I walked over to where Ryder's car was. Jackson did the same, mouthing the same thing that Ellie said.
"Hey you." I greeted as I hopped into the passenger side of his car.
"Hey babe," he smiled, giving me a kiss hello. "How was your advanced firearm class today?"
"Great, as always," I told him. "I'm so ready to take that exam and pass it with flying colours."
"You've been studying for this exam ever since you became a police officer and yet this exam isn't for another couple of weeks still." Ryder said with a laugh. "Is it really that large?"
