I wonder

Some parents give children rules to abide by, things that weren't supposed be done. For me it was "Marley never leave the gates.." I always wondered what was out there maybe lovely people and city lights.

But I never got to see any of it since the only place I new were the walls of this old house. My father would go out for work everyday and come back with food. He would tell me wonderful stories about the outside world it sounded so magnificent.

My bedtime stories weren't regular kids books they were filled with adventures and stories of the outside world. Everything was a mystery to me.

We never contacted our relatives they all thought we were crazy.  I really didn't care all I really needed were my parents.

Quiet Nieve right?

A few years later I began to become more curious. My father's stories were no longer enough for me I wanted to Rome free I didn't want to be trapped anymore. So I went up to my parents and asked. Obviously it was a no but I was determined. At night I climbed out my window and snuck out threw a hole in the wall.

I started walking only seeing trees but soon stumbled upon a highway. I saw big metal round shape things going up and down a black paved road with a single line down the middle dividing it into two. They scared me a lot but I kept walking trying to block out the sound of them passing. People stopped and looked at me as if I was doing something irregular, I hated the stares they gave me it was sickening.

After a little more walking I decided to go back home. The outside world was a terrible place. I ran back home crying my parents sat in the living room as I burst in.

"I'm sorry"

I looked at my father

"Sorry for what darling"

"I'm sorry I didn't believe your stories, outside the Gates is a horrible place"

My parents smiled hugging me tightly.

"Honey we've been keeping you here because of your abilities"

"W-what abilities?!"

I asked raising my voice a little in confusion, this was it my parents were crazy people.

My mother slowly hugged me

"You're a special one "

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT"

As I said that everything started to rise and I felt the ground begin to shake. I looked at my parents absolutely terrified. I pulled away from my mother and sat on the floor clenching my fist trembling and holding on to my legs, I didn't understand any of it and everything was happening so fast.

In the midst of it I felt a hand on my shoulder. Everything fell to the ground and I looked up at my parents
I didn't want to hurt them. Me being close to them would put their lives in danger.

Later that night I packed my things. And decided to leave I didn't want to put anyone else in danger. I threw my bag over my back and climbed threw my window going back to the same small hole.

I began to walk but soon heard a big explosion, I looked behind me only to see the villa on fire. I turnt back around running right back into the house into the fire not noticing my body was burning I saw my parents corps sitting in the same spot I left them. I took their rings and put them on my fingers before walking away.

For some strange reason  crying wasn't my first thought, I had to get out of here before the police and the fire men got here.....
