Shaurya looked at the trembling figure. She had balled at the corner of the room. She hasn't uttered a word since her lover boy left but her fearful eyes, filled with tears spoke volumes. Once again he studied the specimen named Mehek Sharma. He wondered how could he have fallen for a plain woman like her and lost his fortune.

Indeed, a bit of makeup and designer cloths did magic on a normal woman and tuned her into a glamourous doll. But beneath those fakeness, she is just a modest woman. Not even a bit noticeable. And he, the Shaurya Khanna never chose ordinary. He was angry on himself. A simple chit like her is not good enough to even reside in his remote thoughts. She is way beneath his standards. Yet for weeks, her fake personality managed to evade his lustful fantasies.

Shaurya was regretful at his folly. Yet he failed to feel any malice towards the scared kitten in his den. She was not even a kitten as she lacked any claws. Perhaps a mouse, a cute one. He shook his head to come out of his thoughts and cleared his throat. His little mouse got startled even by a mere gesture from his side. He was wicked enough to enjoy her fear.

Mehek appeared to be too normal yet he failed to ignore her. Maybe because she is an untouched youth, or perhaps not. She seemed to be very close to her fiancé that they may have  taken liberties to cross few boundaries. Atleast played around primary bases of relationship. Besides, he himself had kissed her, twice. First sensuously when they met at club and then forcefully. Sole purpose of the second kiss was to scare her and torment Ajay. Still recalling her softness, Despite his reservations about her status, he wished to taste her again. But one real look at her made him rethink. She was too pure for him.

Shaurya never had a relationship with any normal woman. ,All his partners in bed were f*cked up women, infact he preferred them. They all desired his finesse in bed; while some needed his influence and few other wanted to take advantage of his power. So they all were willing, one way or another. Taking a woman forcefully was never in him. Not because of morals. He never cared about another but his ego. If he has to force a woman to fulfil his desires , then it means he failed as man. It will be biggest blow on his pride. He looked at his so-called temptress who didn't tempted him anymore. She was shivering. All he could feel was pity for her. As he walked towards her, she crawled back in fear. Her action irked him.

Shaurya stopped his tracks and angrily threw his coat on her. It fell on floor, few inches away from her feet. She flinched as if it would burn her. "Take it and cover yourself", he ordered, "a sick prisoner is a trouble". When she didn't move, he growled, "Do as I say". Although still trembling, she grabbed his coat and wrapped around her shoulders. Her obedience stirred a craving in him but he pushed it away. To change the mood, he talked to her, "You are fortunate that I am merciful else I never spare those who cross my path".

Mehek whimpered softly. "It is easy to understand your fiancé. He wanted to impress his rich friend. But I wonder how you got courage to mess with me?", Shaurya asked her curiously. She silently shed tears. "I hate to repeat questions", he asked firmly, scaring her. He balled his fists in irritation as she chose to weep rather than answer him. "Stop crying and answer me", he raised his voice yet keeping calm.

Mehek tried hard to control her sobs. "Shruti and Vicky love each other", she spoke after a moment of silence, "When I met her, she was miserable to be married to you". She wanted to explain their side to her captor. Perhaps after knowing the truth, he will free her and Ajay. Shaurya simple looked at her as if waiting for her to continue so she gathered courage to talk, "No good would have come out of a forced marriage. Even you would have been unhappy". He laughed out loud, astonishing her. "You have no idea about my joy, Ms. Mehek", he told her. He already knew that she was really stupid to comprehend the bigger picture of a transactional marriage. "So a meek woman set it out to save the damsel in distress. A commoner to save the Princess", he made fun of her.

Mayhap his mockery or her desperation, Mehek gained enough courage to speak up to Shaurya. "If it was up to me, I would have saved every woman who suffered in a meaningless marriage", her words made Shaurya knit his brows in curiosity. "I know the suffering ", she spoke softly but he heard her, "My mother was one of them". He slowly started to understand her. The man he hired to trace her was pretty thorough regarding her details. So Shaurya knew how she had ended in an orphanage before being adopted by Sharma family. "We were trying to help", she sobbed, "But in turn we got trapped". He knew very well she was worrying about her parents and Ajay. He wanted to show mercy on her but failed. Eventhough her intentions were noble, she caused him huge trouble. He lost his face before his father. It was not possible to let any of then leave scot free. He wanted them to suffer.

"Well, you indeed helped a lot", Shaurya mocked her, "Infact a bit more. Vicky was able to snatch a huge deal beneath my nose since he became son-in-law of Mehtas". "We knew nothing about the business deal", Mehek was quick to defend. "May be you didn't but you lover boy sure did", he smirked at her. "No, you have misunderstood, Ajay. He wouldn't have known. Vicky had kept us in dark", she was desperate to convince him. "Anyways, it doesn't matter to me as long as he could convince Vicky to give up the deal". She became silent and resumed her previous posture.

Shaurya felt pity on the scared woman. It was clearly out of his character but he decided to give her a bit of comfort. "I have no intention to harm you, Honey. You are just a collateral to bring Ajay back", he explained, "once he convinces Vicky to forsake the deal, we all can go home safely". 'What if, he fails?', a fearful thought echoed in Mehek's mind but she didn't dare to voice it out.

As if reading her mind, Shaurya informed her, "If Ajay fails, I have to kill him. Brutally". Mehek gasped and begged him with folded hands, "Please have mercy". "Sorry Baby, Can't do that. I need to set an example else more may dare to cross me", he explained as if it was most natural reason. Her eyes teared up so he consoled her, "Don't worry. Despite Ajay's fate, I will let you go . You have suffered enough". His words were supposed to bring comfort to her but she wept even more than before.

Shaurya was utterly confused by Mehek. He just now informed that she will end up unharmed yet she chose to continue her water works. "You really love him, Don't you?", he asked her being taken aback. She nodded and hid her face on her knees to cry harder. Her thoughts and reactions were a puzzle to him. She is indeed a unique piece of work. In his world that he boasted as perfect, he never encountered such soft feelings or tender characters.

Shaurya felt a tinge of jealousy towards Ajay to whom her heart belongs. But he quickly dismissed it. Those are useless feelings as it only weakens oneself. The hapeless women before him and her desperate lover are perfect examples of their ill effects. He was happy to be devoid of silly emotions and broadened his shoulders in pride.
