A series of noises and loud chattering could be heard from everywhere. Soon, people had gathered together at the horrendous scene in front of them. Most wept for the deaths of their beloved ones while others continued to stare and whisper.

In just one day, a lot had happened in the city, all of them considered dreadful. Numerous innocent people were killed, devil hunters fighting for their lives, and devils planning to unleash their parlous deeds to the world.

All of this distressing events happened just so they could get their hands on the chainsaw devil.

Humans, devils, and devil hunters. They were all the same, no matter how much you want to view them. They have always been an abomination. To be born and to exist in this world was ill-fated.

Devils needed humans just as humans needed them. Yet as much as they needed each other, they also loathe one another. How impeccably ironic.

Some would say it's going to be a war between devils and devil hunters. But only the wise ones knew better. It has always been a battle of ideologies. Ideologies were the main reason why well-intended people become bad people. It was a sad truth.

This is just another tragic story where it's up to you whether you'll play the role of a prey or a predator.

As the white-haired girl walked slowly towards the man covered in his own blood, she swiftly swung her scythe to behead him. But just as she was about to, something hissed in her ear.

Bring me the seed of abomination.

Bring it to me.

Bring it to me.

It took her a moment to realize she has been covering her ears, and the scythe now lied on the ground.

"Tsk,"

All of a sudden, her cellphone rang. She let out an annoyed sigh before smiling at the man writhing in pain.

"Just a moment," said the girl to the man before turning her head away to pick up the call.

"Well, hello there. Aren't you aware I'm in the middle of doing something right now? so whatever it is you want to say, say it quickly please," she said sweetly without looking at the caller.

"Hmm, well, I'm quite disappointed to inform you that you need to postpone your job today and meet up with me," a masculine voice replied.

"What an incredibly annoying news. So, what's it going to be about?" she asked, curiously.

"I can't tell you on the phone. I'll send you the address. But, do know that it's going to be one of the most life-threatening job you'll ever receive," he remarked before hanging up.

There was a pregnant pause. Ha, life-threatening. She put her phone into her pocket with a grunt before looking at the bloodied man before her.

"I was just about to treat myself to dinner, but now I have to leave for a new assignment," she smiled irritatingly.

"But don't you worry, old man. I'll make it nice and swift, you won't even feel a thing," she remarked in amusement.

The girl swung her scythe, with its blade as sharp as a knife. Everything happened too fast, and the next thing she knew, the man's head had rolled over somewhere else.

She smiled at the sight in front of her as if admiring her work. "A promise is a promise," she remarked to no one in particular before leaving the deserted place.

Most people would find this horrifying, but for her, it is the new normal.

She folded her scythe then hid it under the devil's shadow. As soon as she left the deserted place, she took out her phone to look for the address. As she did, she hummed a song her mother once sung for her when she was a child.
