"shit..."
A voice hissed. Blood trickled down Josuke's thumb, as he scrambled to pick up shards of glass haphazardly scattered across the floor.
He grumbled inwardly. He felt like the shards were mocking him in that moment. It wasn't his fault he was a bit moody—Jonathan had been working the staff to the bone, and, well, this isn't exactly what a nurse should be doing at the moment.
He's supposed to be the buildings stand-in nurse until the real one actually gets there, though last he checked, nurses don't pick up glass shards by hand after a bar fight. If anything, that was Giorno's job as the bartender.
"You look awfully pale," A voice chittered behind him, an approaching shadow veiling his crouching body from the dim, comfortable glow of the bars light. "maybe you should take a day off."
"You know I can't do that, Jolyne." He painfully sighed in response. "Jonathan is awfully adamant about us working especially hard this week."
"Then you know exactly who you should go talk to if you want a break."
He did, he really did-- problem was, he just didn't want to bother his boss on a day like this.
Jonathan may be the manager of the place, the person everyone loses their head over when he makes an appearance in any gambling room, but he didn't own the casino he happened to be so fond of.
(Y/n) (L/n) did, and at the moment, they were talking to a new hire.
"I can just wait until the weekend, it's not far anyway..."
"You sure? You know how lenient Mx. (Y/n) is, you could get away with a single day off."
"I know, but it wouldn't be right." Josuke huffed, leaning back onto his feet. "Who do you think the new hire is? Another dealer?"
It should've been considered rude how Jolyne had utterly ignored him in favor of a caprisun offered by Johnny, but this was just an every-day thing in her case. Giorno didn't seem too impressed, as any person would be, and promptly tossed a straw at her head before gesturing to the 'nurse' of the casino. "Huh? You say something?"
"Yeah-- I did."
"Oh, sorry. Care to repeat that?"
"I asked if you had an idea of who the new hire was."
"Ahh, no clue!" She laughed, the yellow straw from the capri-sun lazily hanging from her mouth. "Maybe we'll finally get a singer to bring this place to life, or maybe they're a cook that can make us breakfast every morning!"
"I doubt that." A new, softer voice cut in. "We already have an entertainer, and a cook. If anything, we could use a secretary or somethin' to help with keeping track of funds."
All eyes flew to Gappy, who, at the moment, was struggling to clean some stain from the collar of his button-up.
"I thought Jonathan told you no more gooey foods-- and isn't Luther the bosses secretary, or assistant?" Giorno hummed, wiping off the edge to some random wine glass he picked up.
"Well... Ok, yeah, but maybe they're getting another!"
"I'm not too sure they'd need two secretary's."
"True..."
They've always been, in Josuke's opinion, painfully peculiar-- His boss, that is. He'd only just remembered how strange they were when he recalled the time he was hired, which was sparked by the ongoing conversation of who might be joining their team.
