Lloyd was laughing. Loud, unrestrained and with some tears gathering in his eyes.
It was such a beautiful sight that it even made Kai a little breathless, though if asked, he would blame his lack of air for being laughing too.
He couldn't remember what he did or said to bring this reaction out of Lloyd, and now he has to find a new way to make it happen again. That wasn't really a problem, since Kai would love to learn more about what makes him laugh like that, so free and relaxed.
Kai didn't realize, but he had a tiny smile on his face and his eyes were so soft while looking for the other boy. His chest was warm just observing Lloyd, who was wheezing while cleaning his eyes from the last remainder of tears.
He kept staring at the younger, drinking in the vision of the light in the green eyes and the aura of happiness that emanated from him. He was so pretty. Even when Lloyd faced him with a question in his face and an upturned eyebrow, Kai continued to just look at him.
He had no words to explain why he was acting like a lovesick fool when they both have been in that bedroom since lunch, using their most comfortable and old clothes while having the worst bed hair ever — fuck the comb, it was saturday and there was no need to look nice when you're in home.
And yet, even if both have crumbs of chips on their hoodies and in the corner of their mouths or have some ketchup stain in their fingers and pants — because who need to wash hands when you can just clean it in your own clothes — Kai still couldn't stop staring at Lloyd with that dumb heart eyes.
And he knew he had that look on because Lloyd's lips would always curve upward, and his face would be a little amused, as if he still couldn't believe Kai could make an expression like that.
For a moment it appeared that time was still. They were just looking at each other for no other real reason besides because they can and it was making Kai's heartbeat start to pick on. He would start to think they're under a time stopping spell if the next thing he knew wasn't the pain on his forehead.
Both he and Lloyd groaned, though they still rested their heads close even after bumping it. It was kinda funny how Kai didn't realize that neither he or Lloyd were moving, but he wasn't really surprised that it happened. They always felt the need to be in each other's space, subconsciously wanting to provide and receive support by being in the same place. Lingering touches, small smiles, winks and an upturn of eyebrow, always being close enough to check if everything is alright or to just enjoy the mood.
When Kai opened his eyes — that he had closed when his forehead connected with Lloyd's —, the first thing he saw was pink lips holding a smile. He blew some air in the other's face, and upon seeing the nose twitching with annoyance, Kai chuckled. Upon hearing it, Lloyd's eyes opened and dark brown eyes stared straight at green ones.
If Kai held his breath, nobody needed to know that.
This time, when they approximated their faces, it was smoother. Like pieces getting together, they slowly sealed their lips in a kiss. It just felt right to do so, to hold Lloyd's face tenderly while feeling his short fingers messing with his hair.
It was like a test drive, just a tiny peck before deciding if this way the right choice to go on an adventure. They separeted just to breathe a little, but kept their eyes closed while savoring the moment. Kai other's hand entered Lloyd's shirts, and he felt the way the other had a goosebump just for the contact of the fingers in his skin. It made a smile appear on his face, even if nobody would see it.
Lloyd's fingers were still playing with his hair, massaging his scalp close to the neck and feeling the texture it had without gel. He knew it was way softer when his hair didn't have any product, and that's why he normally didn't use it if they were just going to stay in home without receiving any visitors. In a way or another, Lloyd always messed with Kai's hair when he has the opportunity.
With his hand still in the other back, Kai pushed him closer so they would be more snuggled than they already are. He approximated his face again, but since he still had his eyes closed, he ended up kissing the corner of Lloyd's mouth, bringing a choked giggled from him.
“Don't laugh of me.” He whined, giving a tiny bump in the blond head.
“Then kiss me right, dummy.”
Kai sighed before opening his eyes. The first thing he saw was the mischievous light in Lloyd's eyes and he just knew that the little shit has moved his face when he went for another kiss. The second thing that got his attention was the fact that Lloyd's lips were a little bit more pink than before, and just that was enough to spread warm in his chest and make him more decided.
He held Lloyd's face more secured, and saw the moment he closed his eyes to let Kai do as he asked. With a smirk, he brought his eyes to his boyfriend's lips and dive in for another kiss.
This time they didn't stayed in the superficial water, deciding to swin deeper in the way it felt to just prove each other taste. With a lick, Lloyd's mouth was open for Kai's tongue to explore. They didn't have any hurry in their movements, after all, they got the day off so they could enjoy just being in the other presence while doing something.
Kai savored the way Lloyd's tongue tasted of spiced chips and ketchup, the way he grunted and grabbed at his hair to show how much he was into the kiss. His fingers were caressing his boyfriend's back, his touch as gentle and slow as his kiss.
Feeling Lloyd start to tremble, he separated them so the other could breath properly. With a smirk tugging at his lips, he guided his hand to the other neck, keeping him still in the same place.
“Asshole.”
Kai chuckled, but didn't tried to defend himself. He did prepared for the kiss before giving it, so Lloyd could be all blushy and breathless from it.
A pretty sight he never got tired of seeing. And it was while they're getting still resting on each other foreheads trying to recuperate the lost air that Kai remembered what they were even doing in first place.
How he tuned out the sound that was coming from the television was beyond himself, but one look at the screen was enough to make him grunt.
“Guess we need to restart this quest again.” Kai said, not for a bit motivated to do so.
He heard Lloyd's laugh and felt his heart skip a beat.
“It's not like we even started it anyway.”
And even if there was written game over in a big ugly front on the screen, neither felt like they have lose something.
