"Attack!" cried the five thousand Kumo, Iwa, and Kiri shinobi. On the other side of the battlefield, there were just two thousand Uzushio shinobi. It was the last stand of Uzushiogakure. With thunderous roars of anger beneath a cloudy sky, both armies converged in the middle. Blood poured onto the brown soil, staining it like red rain that had come from hell. Screams of infants, children, husbands, and wives could be heard as they breathed their last breaths.

3 days later:

Uzushiogakure was utterly destroyed. All that was left was death lingering in the air and the whirling tides that had stood the test of time since before man made the island their humble abode. The only corpses left were those of Uzushiogakure shinobi. Kumo, Iwa, and Kiri had pulled out their armies, taking their dead with them to lay them in their respective villages. Below the remaining corpses, the ground glowed with chakra before returning to its normal brown state. And with that, the final project of Uzushiogakure commenced.

Present Day, 20 years later:

Silence encompassed the small island. No animals or humans were left to disturb it. Or rather, no live animals or humans were left on the island. There were still the Uzushiogakure corpses that had not aged a day since the fall of Uzushiogakure. But this haunting silence was to be broken soon. A sealing matrix encompassing the entire island glowed with chakra. Suddenly, black markings covered all the corpses, flooding them full of nature chakra that had been converted to the specific chakras of each corpse. The seal markings on the bodies instructed the chakra to manipulate itself to perform the modified edo tensei jutsu. First, from the soil came dust that gathered around each and every corpse remaining on the island. The dust took on the form of the corpses. With this act, the two thousand souls that were slain on the day of the fall of Uzushiogakure were summoned to the land of the living using the chakra that had flooded the corpses. Then, the dust surrounding the corpses turned into flesh. Lastly, the summoned souls were anchored back into their new bodies. And thus, the joyous cries of Uzumaki clan heralded the rebirth of Uzushiogakure, the greatest village to have ever lived again.
