The Seals

3 hours and 30 minutes after arriving:

It was completely amazing. Nothing had broken down within the Uzukage tower. And by that, Kazumi meant absolutely nothing. If he hadn't woken up outside, he would never have believed that a battle had occurred. It seemed as if time had been frozen in here. Not a speck of dust had accumulated anywhere in the tower. Yet, there was this absolutely unnerving silence that graced the halls of the tower. It gave a haunted vibe, as if silently guilting his consciousness for not having arrived sooner to fight off whatever force had completely recked the island. But, he reminded himself, he had a task to focus on in the present: to find out what had lead up to the destruction of his beloved village.

4 hours after arriving:

Creak ... It was faintly audible only to the ears of an experienced high jonin level ninja. That was the only warning Kazumi got before a tanto shot out of a floor board with 20 kunai following immediately behind it. But just behind all of those weapons, he detected a seal that glowed a faint blue before fading back into regular black. What the heck?!, he thought, this shouldn't be possible. I detected no chakra here. No trap with a seal should be able to function without any chakra. Which means that someone or, maybe even something, has to be generating chakra in the tower. Kazumi knew that he should have returned to his students, but this was just too tantalizing of a mystery (and not to mention, a very potentially dangerous threat to his students) not to investigate.

4 hours after arriving:

Goddammit, thought an insanely bored Uzukurai. He had been trying to open the door for the past hour or so to no avail. And every time that he tried, the seal on the door just sucked away a little more of his chakra. Interestingly though, he had realized that the door and food seals were connected because every time that the door stole some of his chakra, another dish of takoyaki, his favorite food, would pop up on the food seal. Now, he was just sitting here munching on some takoyaki, bored out of his mind. Well, at least my annoying teammates haven't woken up yet, he thought. Just then, he heard a groan emanating from his left. And there goes that hope, he thought. Nikata had just woken up. He wished that she had just remained asleep for a bit longer. It was nice to just relax and look at her angelic face when she was not whining, frowning, or yelling at him. Wait, what was he thinking! He wasn't a lovesick puppy! No, absolutely not! He refused to be one! This must just be puberty. How he wished that he never had to experience this horrific stage of life known as puberty. He already had enough on his plate with training. Kurai just didn't need hormones and emotions to handle at the moment. Or ever, period. A another moan emitted from Nikata. He figured that he should probably feed her some food so that she could replenish her chakra faster.

Nikata's POV:

The smell of food was the first thing my brain registered. Specifically, the aroma of delicious takoyaki filled the air. Instinctively, my hand moved towards the food. Or at least, it was doing that until all my memories snapped back in place and I decided to whip out some kunais instead. "Chill, it's just me. But it's good to see that you at least still have some sense of caution after going through what we just went through," said Kurai, who was located right in front me. In fact, his face was so close that my face, ahem, mysteriously, went red and I immediately put some space between us while simultaneously snatching the takoyaki plate near me. Wordlessly, he also handed me a note written in sensei's handwriting.

After I was done reading it, I looked at Kurai in shock. "What? Don't look at me like that! I already tried getting out of this room like a million times. The door seal here is too complex to figure out for even my level, which means that we are stuck here, maybe waiting for an enemy. Although, if sensei was an enemy, he probably already would have slit our throats," he said in reply to the look on my face. Kurai was right. Which means that we are so screwed.
