Titi was in the kitchen trying to prepare something for them to eat when Ohm arrived, making her startled with his unexpected hand behind her back.

"Sorry love! It's me!" Ohm replied.

"Hi, hottie! You scared me to death!", Titi scolded, squeezing her boyfriend's cheeks.

"Serves you to remember to lock the door, princess! I already told you, now that we've moved out of the condo, we need to pay more attention to these details, ok?", Ohm said kissing Titi.

It had been 3 months since they had decided to move from the apartment where Ohm lived to a house in the suburbs of the city. It was a little further from the urban center, but they believed the tranquility would pay off. Titi had started working part-time and was keen to help pay for the mortgage on the house, as well as the monthly expenses, in addition to starting the college she had dreamed of.

However, used to the condo's security system, they had not yet adapted to a more traditional house and without so much equipment to verify the identity of those who entered.

Ohm thought of hiring a company to handle the matter, after all, given the detective's occupation, it was easy to become a target for criminals and their cronies seeking revenge, so security was never too much. But the couple had been so busy lately that they forgot and postponed the appointment.

"I know, love! I know!", Titi replied trying to divert the subject from her mistake.

A few nights later, Titi ended up arriving home a little later than usual and when she tried to turn on the light switch in the living room, she noticed that it didn't work. She took a few steps until she reached the kitchen and the one there didn't respond either.

Suddenly, she heard a noise coming from the second floor. So, taking as much care as possible not to make a noise, she grabbed an umbrella and headed towards the room from which the sound seemed to be coming.

Peeking out from the hallway, she noticed that a human figure seemed to be rummaging through the couple's bedroom closet drawers in search of something. Without thinking any further, she approached the man and hit him several times with the object in hand.

The man was much taller and stronger than her and soon reacted by trying to dominate her. However, since they started dating, Ohm had insisted that Titi take self-defense classes, something essential in today's world, unfortunately. So, when she noticed the man trying to pin her arms, Titi used the knowledge acquired in that class and in a maneuver that consisted of quickly lowering her head and raising her knee to the target's crotch, she managed to make him fall to the ground in pain. As soon as she regained her balance, she was already running out of the room when the man moaned softly:

"P-princess…"

No matter what situation she was in, Titi could recognize that voice from afar. Curious and contradicting her sense of preservation that told her to run away and call the police, she took her cell phone out of her pants pocket and approached the man, shining her flashlight in his face. To her surprise, her instincts were right:

"My god, Ohm! What were you doing, love?", she screamed scared when she confirmed the identity of the figure that writhed in pain on the floor.

A few moments later, the electricity came back on and they confirmed later that it was nothing more than a problem in the electric services company that happened in the neighborhood. However, they still had to deal with the problem of Ohm who was now sitting in the pantry and suffering from the pain of the blows received from his girlfriend. In turn, Titi would apply an ice pack where he indicated he needed the most.

"Sorry, love…", Titi was almost crying with regret for hitting Ohm like that.

"It's okay, princess…", he repeated for the umpteenth time since Titi found out she'd almost killed her own boyfriend.

"It was also half your fault, Ohm! Why didn't you say anything while I was attacking you?", she asked, applying ice to his shoulder.

"It's kind of hard to say something when a rage machine is attacking you by surprise, you know Princess? But in a way I liked the result…", Ohm said turning around in his chair and facing Titi.

"Why is that?" she asked curiously.

"Because it means that the classes were worth it and that you could do well defending yourself! I was very proud! Hurt but proud!", Ohm said, kissing Titi on the forehead.

"Aw, you don't exist, love," Titi said, hugging the man in front of her until he complained.

"Not so tight, love…"

The next morning, Ohm called the security company that installed the alarm and biometric-ID locks and asked them to get the job done urgently.
