Marrinette: this can't be happening!! I cant be here... this can't be real!
*suddenly, somebody who looked like a doctor entered the room. It was a man who had a kind face. Following behind him was a lady, who looked the exact opposite. While the man had warm, kind, brown eyes, she had cold, hard grey eyes. His hair was wavy and loose, while hers was pulled into a tight bun. He was wearing scrubs and she was wearing a pantsuit. The man's name tag said "Samuel" and the lady didn't have a name tag.*
Samuel: hello marrinette! I am Samuel, and this is Ms. Manlington.
Marrinette: um hello... where exactly am I?
Samuel: you are in trident mental hospital. It's not too far from where you live.
*marrinette looked confused, she didn't know exactly where she was still.*
Ms Manlington: your in the hospital for crazy people. That's what Samuel was trying to say. I'm sure you know why you are here.
*when she spoke, she had such a cold, hard sharpness to her voice. There was nothing about her resembling Samuel's warm ambiance. *
Marrinette: I'm sorry maam, but no.
*ms manlington rolled her eyes.*
Mrs manlington: it's because you are convinced that there are superheroes saving everybody from evil butterflies.
Marrinette: but there are! I know for a fact that there are!
Ms manlington: no, there are NOT. You're just like the others, claiming they know exactly what happened, but it was all in their heads.
*there was a shock sent through marrinette. Was there a chance she really WAS crazy?*
Samuel: don't worry, I am sure you will be out of here in no time. You're not crazy, you're brain is just functioning in a different way. We are here to get it back on track.
*when Samuel spoke, it seemed less scary. Like it was just an obstacle. When ms manlington spoke, it was like the world was ending.*
Marrinette: where are my parents?
Sameul: they are in the lobby. I will send them in.
*tom and Sabine walked in, bracing themselves for an outburst. But instead of marrinette being angry, slow tears started to fall down her face. Tom and Sabine ran to her side.*
Sabine: honey, we are doing this because we love you.
Marrinette: you don't understand! I don't need to be in a mental institution!
Sabine: yes you do honey. It's obvious.
*at this, Samuel and ms manlington left the room so you could speak to your parents privately.*
Tom: try to see this from our eyes. Does it sound normal?
*marrinette thought. She had to give it to them. No, if didn't.*
Marrinette: no, I guess not.
*tom and Sabine let out a breath, like marrinette understanding a bit more would make it all okay.*
Marrinette: but this is crazy.
Tom: well so are you...
*marrinette could tell he was kidding, but was struck by his words. Sabine slapped toms arm.*
Sabine: Tom!
Tom: I'm sorry marrinette... I was joking.
Marrinette: yeah. Ok.
Sabine: you know we love you right?
Marrinette: yes.. but this... mom this is terrifying.
Sabine: honey this is a safe place!
Marrinette: mom, I don't have ANY of my stuff here! I don't have ANYBODY here! Ms manlington is strict and terrible, and although Samuel is nice, that doesn't brighten anything up. I am all alone here. This space is NOT safe.
*tears were welling up in sabines eyes.*
Sabine: no honey... soon you will understand that we are doing this for you.
*ms manlington entered the room.*
Ms manlington: visiting hours are over.
*tom and Sabine both gave marrinette a kiss on the head before heading towards the door.*
Marrinette: no! Mom, dad please! Please don't go, I'll be all alone here! PLEASE!
*sabine now had tears running down her face, but Tom put his hand on her back and gently pushed her along out the door. When the door shut, marrinette broke down into tears. It was now just her and ms manlington.*
Ms manlington: oh, stop that crying. It's not their fault that you are crazy.
Marrinette: I'm not crazy...
Ms manlington: but of course you are, my dear. That's why you're here.
*marrinette shuddered. Then Samuel walked in.*
Ms manlington: at some point you're just going to have to except it.
You're crazy.
Marrunette: I'm not!
Samuel: ms manlington...
Ms manlington: she needs to man up. I want to hear you say it. Say you're crazy.
Marrinette: IM. NOT. CRAZY.
*Ms manlington looked very taken aback. Everybody at the mental hospital was scared of her. When she wanted something, they gave it to her. But not marrinette. She had grit, and ms manlington made it her mission to wear that grit down. She wanted to be in charge.*
Samuel: okay Martha, that's enough.
(Martha is ms manlington's first name.)
*ms manlington grinned a cruel grin at marrinette before leaving the room.*
Sameul: you're right, marrinette. You're not crazy. Martha just liked to assert dominance by intimidation.
Marrinette: that's terrible. I am a child! She is trying to assert dominance over a child?! Is she that insecure?! I think SHE is the sick one...
Sameul: you could be right. But the truth is, we can't fire her. As much as I wish we could, all the money funding the hospitality is coming from her. We fire her, we can kiss this hospital goodbye.
Marrinette: the patients would probably appreciate being able to leave. I know I would.
*sameul sighed a very sad sigh.*
Sameul: I know it doesn't seem like it, but we are here to help. Everyone here needs to be here.
*marrinette shook her head*
Marrinette: not me. I don't need to be here.
Sameul: listen, you're reality is different than ours. I'm not going to lie to you, that is a cause for worry.
*marrinette suddenly felt angry. She KNEW ladybug and cat noir were real. She didn't want Samuel here, HE didn't know what he was talking about. She did. She turned over in her bed.*
Marrinette: I would like to be alone now.
*she heard sameul sigh, then heard the door close. Her mind was going a mile a minute.
There are only two things I am certain of right now. One, ladybug and cat noir are real. And two,
I have to get out of here.
