"How about this?" Zhongli hummed to himself as he grabbed something, you watched curiously as he lifted up a necklace.
"It's pretty." you admitted with a soft smile, as the days in Liyue with Zhongli had gone on you had remembered more and more of how to actually live. Whether it be dressing yourself or even brushing your hair.
And now, the fifth day. Zhongli had taken you into town to get you something for your vision.
You plopped the small green vision into the perfectly rounded hole. It fit perfectly.
"Allow me." Zhongli said, you looked up in momentary confusion, he quickly took a few steps forward before putting the necklace on you, your face gave away nothing of the inner turmoil you felt at him being so close.
"Thank you." you gave a thankful smile, the shopkeeper held up a small mirror towards you, it did look beautiful on you. Almost as if it had been meant for you.
"If only Morax could see me now." you whispered more to yourself than to anyone else, but as soon as the words left your lips your body stiffened. Eyes wide, the shopkeeper clearly hadn't heard you and if Zhongli had he didn't let it show.
Your heart ached in your chest, even though you had no recognition of your previous life you knew it was intertwined with the god of contracts.
Zhongli said something to the shopkeeper, you tuned his voice out as you tried to think why exactly you had said that. It was almost as if something was keeping you from remembering, out of habit you ran your fingers down the smooth vision and sighed softly.
"I'll be right back." you almost whispered, Zhongli glanced at you but you left before anyone could say anything.
You put a hand to your forehead as you desperately tried to remember anything, your head hurt from the effort.
"Y/N."
You snapped your eyes open and stared at familiar amber eyes, glowing ever so dimly much like yours.
"Are you alright, Y/N?" Zhongli softly asked, his closeness and voice made goosebumps appear all over your arms.
"Is Rex lapis really dead?" you whispered, your voice was weak. Almost as if you would break at any moment.
Zhongli took a step backwards, with a soft sigh he spoke again. "Let's go for a walk Y/N, I'll tell you a story."
You didn't protest, however before Zhongli could began telling any stories you were stopped by two guards carrying large spears.
"Is there a problem?" Zhongli calmly asked, however it felt more like a threat.
"You need to come with us." one of the guards said, it took you a few moments to realize they were actually talking to you.
"No--" you began but before you could say anything else, Zhongli smoothly pulled you behind him.
"I'm sure there's been a misunderstanding." Zhongli began.
Your eyes widened as saw the guards point their weapons at you, you took a step backwards bumping into someone else, a hand grabbed hold of your shoulder. You whipped your head towards Zhongli who still looked calm, he gave you a reassuring nod. You didn't understand, why was he letting them take you?
You tried not to let it bother you, all you could hear was your own heartbeat pounding in your ear. You tried not to let it take control of you until you felt something sharp poke your back, as if a twig had been broken you ripped your arm free from the guards grasp.
He stared at you in momentary shock, you wasted no time and began sprinting the opposite direction.
"Get her!" a voice screamed from behind you.
