a/n; after the endgame, steve is one to return the stones , when he goes to Vormir he wants to try and get natasha back.

Steve was the one who it in the worse way, after Clint. After beating Thanos he would barely come out of room and than only if necessary. Clint and Tony both as well knew that they were unspoken feelings between him and Natasha which only made it worse. Steve blamed himself every day for not telling her how he felt about her and thought that if he had talked to her she would be here today with him.

The only time he came out of his room was , today , when he would return all the stones back and he would try to bring back Natasha, even though all except Sam , Bucky and Clint made it clear to him that it was impossible. He just wanted her back. He owe it to himself and her to at least try. Deep deep down he was sure he would get back, call it an instinct but he was sure she was alive somehow.

"Don't anything stupid while I'm gone" he said to Sam and Bucky "nah we won't" they said in unison. He gave each a hug and left. "Ready Cap?" Bruce asked him "Yes" he breathed. And with that he was gone. He made sure to return all the stones before the soul one and he even gave to Peggy the dance he had promised before the ice.

His last stop was Vormir. Red Skull was waiting for him. "Steve Rogers, son of Sarah Rogers" he said " I want to return the stone in the exchange of Natasha" he quickly wen to his point "no one has eve tried that" Red Skull said "it's a soul for a soul , right?" he asked "correct" red skull answered "so if I gave you the stone you will be able to bring her back" "It doesn't work that way" " I'd not care how it works! You will make it work! She has to come back" he argued.

Steve sighed and took a moment to collect himself before deciding on what to do next. He could trade his life with hers, to bring her back, she deserved that more than him anyways. But he didn't want that either. But as the minutes passed Steve got angry, at himself for letting go without saying I love you and that you are important to me and for the world which took her away from him.

Yes, he loved Peggy, but with Natasha it was something different. She was.. and still is now the love of his life, which makes the situation worse. "The stone for Natasha" he said to Red Skull. He didn't care if it wasn't possible, it had to work. He threw the stone under the cliff and waited for something to happen. He sat there for hours and when he thought that Red Skull was right and nothing would happen "Steve?" a voice said, he turned around and saw her "Nat?" He asked and run to her "it worked! It worked! I cant believe that this actually worked!" he said wrapping his arms around her and pulling her in a tight hug

"I'm steve, I'm alive but I think you're going to kill me, if you continue hugging me this tight" she laughed softly. He had missed being able to listen to her laugh. One of his favorite things about her,her laugh, "all I care about is that you're here with me!" he whispered to her "I'm not letting you go again, Natasha" he said "steve.." she began "I love you Nat, I always have, I'm sorry I didn't-" she just I interrupted with a soft kiss to let him know she feels the same. " I love you too, Steve" she let him know softly "if you do anything stupid again, I swear I'm homing to kill you" she told him "you could have killed yourself and all of that to bring me back?" she said "yep, all of that to bring you back" he said

"Now,let's get you back, everyone would love to know that you're alive" he said. "Wear that" he handed her the suit, once she wore it they traveled back. "Returning in.. 5,4,3,2,1" Bruce said and both of them were back "Natasha?" everyone were so shocked but also happy she was back, meaning whatever plan Steve had done,worked.

After greeting everybody she just requested from Steve to take her home, because she needed to rest which he did. He spent the entire night awake just staring at her while he hold her tightly because he was afraid that she would be gone. "Go to bed steve"she mumbled "I'm not going anywhere" she said and moved closer to him. "I'm okay awake" he said "you need sleep"she argued while sleeping. "Fine okay" he gave in and closed his eyes holding her in his arms and to not moving at all the entire night. Because now, they had one another.
