When the finally arrived at the highway, many people were running away from where the highway was located, but Joel really needed to get there. An Rv- or travel caravan- was stopped in the exit that leads to the highway. A small crevice was the only thing that you could enter or exit from- big enough for a large pickup like Tommy's. Tommy directed the car to go straight through the tiny crevice, the one that many people were flooding out of. when they got through, the unthinkable happened.
"Watch out-!" Sarah shouted, when an Rv intersected with them. the tiny blue pickup truck flipped twice, and landed with the passenger door colliding with the ground.

"Daddy?" Joel was unconscious. Sarah was eagerly touching his face to bring him back to consciousness.

"Sarah are you okay?!" Joel asked when he awoke, groggily and frightened.
(A/n interesting things I come up with, huh?)
Joel forcefully kicked at the cracked window. In four strikes, the window broke. Joel pulled Sarah out if the open window. Suddenly, Joel was pinned to the rolled car, fighting for his life. One of them was trying to gnaw away at his lifeless body. (a/n not today. no sir. ;/) Tommy grabbed the revolver out of Joel's belt loop, and shot it twice.
"Thanks, Tommy." Joel didn't know what to say, considering he had only had contact with one- and he handled that pretty well. ( a/n AMIRITE?!)

"Ouch," Sarah mumbled. Joel turned to face her.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Joel asked anxiously.
"It's my leg," Sarah replied.
"How bad?"
"Pretty bad."
Joel scooped her up in his arms, and started running beside Tommy. They ran through an ally way, leading to a dirt road. Joel heard the growl of another, running towards him. Joel and Tommy kept running until they reached an ambulance with red and white lights flashing, an a police man pointing his gun behind Joel. With a few pops of the gun, the growling was gone; he didn't realize so many were following him.
"Sir, can you help us?" Joel asked the guard.
"Stop right there!" The guard demanded.
Joel kept talking.
"It's my daughter. I think her leg's broken. I-I need help-" Joel continued.
"Sir, requested help from a few non-infected,"
The guard said, talking into his headset.
"But sir, there's a little girl. Okay," the guard rose his gun. With multiple pops if his rifle, the impact of the shooting had caused them to fall of a small ledge. All you could hear, was the faint sobs in the background.
"Sarah!" Joel shouted while approaching her. Her sobs turned into light huccups.

Joel did absolutely every thing he could do to save his daughters life.
She had died.
