The halls are filled with excitement from being back after winter break. It leaves me wondering where they get their energy from. I must have forgotten mine when I woke up late this morning.

Pushing past people who decide to stand in the middle of the hallway, I make it to my locker.

"Hey, beautiful!"

I turn around, smiling at Scarlett. "Hey," Her red hair is perfectly curled, and she wears bright red lipstick today. "I look like a zombie, that's all you." I retort.

She throws her head back with laughter, "Well then you're a cute zombie." She muses, I envy her energy.

Brody and Paige walk in, bantering over something. It's cute, and no one seems shocked to see them together.

They approach us with smiles. "Good morning." Paige gleams, this is the happiest I have seen her.

I raise a brow, grinning at her eye roll. Brody wraps an arm around her, kissing her temple. He is very affectionate from what I can see. It's cute, seeing how happy they both look together.

"Where's the birthday boy?" Brody wonders, glancing behind me.

"He should be here soon," I reply, glancing at my phone for the time.

Asher wanted to have breakfast with his sister since she could only stay for a few hours before she leaves for college again. He felt bad because he wanted to drive me.

Candice allowed me to borrow her car this morning and told me to use it whenever. She's only a few weeks pregnant but her work is mostly from home now. It gives her the chance to go to appointments.

The first bell rings and I excuse myself to go look for him. His recent message states that he has arrived. I stop by the staircase, our usual spot for waiting for the other. The halls become crowded, but this spot stays secluded.

Eventually, I see him walking to me with a crooked smile. My stomach flutters every time he looks at me.

"Happy birthday," I say, wrapping my arms around his neck.

His scent and warmth are enough to make me weak. Combined with the feeling of his arms pulling me closer.

He murmurs into my neck, the heat of his breath hitting my skin. "Thank you, baby."

I pull back dreadfully, taking his hand and heading to my class. We're not that annoying couple that kisses before and after every class. Asher is more comfortable with PDA than I am, but we don't see the need to be all over each other in school.

Exams are in two weeks, teachers preparing their study packets. We're already being bombarded with college talk, which is stressful enough.

My first two classes are over in what feels like a breeze. I can't remember anything that we talked about, but that's nothing new. I tend to do better when I study the day before any test. It stays fresh in my memory.

I walk towards the library, crossing my fingers that it's empty today. The large double wooden doors hide the inside but even then I can hear rustling and voices.
