Chapter 5: Rules

Serena's POV
'Knock Knock Knock'
"Serena dinner's ready be down in 5 minutes," Alexei's voice loud and clear coming through the door, and then his foot steps fading away.
I tiredly get up, brush my teeth, and make myself look presentable. I wonder through the hallways till I bump into a wall, making me fall to the floor.
'Ouch that's gonna leave a mark' I snicker to myself.
"Watch where you're going weak brat," Mathew spat out at me and walked away. I couldn't help but feel a little hurt by him, but I push it to the back of my mind.

'Ring Ring Ring'
"Hello Rose speaking," narrowing my eyes at the wall waiting for the person on the other side speak.
"Don it's Jace speaking. I'm sorry to inform you but 5 weapon carts and 2 drug carts were stolen today." Jace my second in command, my best friend shakily asked.
"I'll locate them and tell you where to get them back," rubbing my head from the stress that's building up.
"Also Rowan misses you Rose," sighing I go to an opened window and stare up in the sky.
"Tell my baby Roro that I'll see him soon, and to remember that I'm looking at the same stars as him." Just the thought of my baby Roro warms up my cold heart.
" I will Rose. Take care of yourself. Call me later," with that the call ended. Spacing out a bit more and a little bit of wandering around I finally found the Dinning room. As I get closer to the Dining room you can hear voices of laughter and conversations going on.

'Breathe its just your family'
'Yeah the family that dislikes you'
'Shut up brain let's just get this over with'
Grumbling I straighten my posture, hold my head up high, and kept an expressionless face. Walking in half way you can see everyone smiling and laughing. It's crazy to think about it, but I have this sudden urge to join them. I finally walk in all the way and one by one voices, laughter, and conversations stop. Heads turning towards me. Expressionless face, scowling, and glares coming from my dearest older brothers.
   
"You're late Serena. This can't happen again," my father spoke with seriousness in his voice.
"Yes Leonardo, I'll try to not make it happen again. I mean you can't always get what you want you know," holding my head high I go and sit by the only open spot.
Alexei is to my right and Alessandro on my left.
Looking back to my father I see hurt and anger in his eyes, but I didn't care about what they felt.
"Let's start dinner now shall we," Jessica spoke out loud breaking the tension and silence, narrowing her eyes at me. I rolled my eyes focusing back on eating food.

I waited till everyone finished grabbing food, so I can grab some for myself. I don't eat much, because I just got used to it. Shaking my head trying not to think of that horrid memory.

"So Serena after dinner I would like to discuss rules with you," of course my father would only ask me and not even bother for Andrew.
Scoffing I nod.
"Verbal answers Bambina, but I'll let that slide just this once."

Finishing half my plate I sit back waiting for them to be done with their food.
"Why are you not eating?" my father asked.
"I'm full," staring straight at him.
"Very well then. Let's head to my office,"quickly scurrying after him we reached the third floor, and stopped in front of a door that had 'Leonardo' on it.

"Please sit down Serena," after sitting down I give him my full attention to show that I'm listening.
"I just want to discuss the rules with you which is:
Rule #1: Always respect everyone
Rule #2: No talking back
Rule #3: Wear approved clothing by us
Rule #4: Listen to us and your brothers
Rule #5: Always let us know when, where, and with who you're going with/ or leave us a note
Rule #6: Always get good grades
Rule #7: Don't get into trouble
Rule #8: Always answer your phone when we're calling
Rule #9: No dating anyone; but you can have girls and guys as friends as long as they're approved by us
Rule #10: Always sit by your brothers during lunch
Rule #11: No alcohol, drugs, sex, or parties
Any questions?"

"No questions. I just want to add my opinion on it. First of all respect is earned not given. It's not considered talking back when you're proving a fact. I wear whatever I want, I don't have to listen to you, you don't need to know where I'm going, I will answer my phone whenever I want, I don't need to sit by anyone, you don't control me so I will do as I wish. I'm okay with Rule #6, 9, and 10," finishing my statement professionally.

"We'll see. Any of these rules broken will result to punishments. Punishments are depending on what you do. You start school in 2 days, so prepare for that," my father says smirking back at me.

"If that is all I will be taking my leave and rest," concluding our convo I walk towards the door with four words repeating in my head.
'We will see alright'
