No, no it has not been pretty much three months since I genuinely updated this and I also didn't forget it existed and this definitely isn't a short filler/comfort chapter just so I can say I updated it :) /s

The next morning you were awoken by the sound of your phone going off. In your still half asleep state the sound was piercing. The ringing felt like it was boring a hole in your skull, you wondered how Storm was sleeping through it, until you felt him shove his face against your chest and bury his head under your arm in an absentminded attempt to muffle the sound. Your face turned bright red as he shoved himself up against you.

"Mmh too loud, make it stop." He groaned as he flung one of his arms out trying to find the source of the ear piercing sound, almost hitting you in the process. As sunlight peered through a small opening in the curtains and shone directly in your eyes you squinted and reached over Storm to feel around the nightstand for your phone. Eventually you found it and it turned out it was Gale calling you, so you rolled over on to your back and picked up the phone.

"Finally" Gale said, sounding a tad bit annoyed. "I've been calling for ages waiting for someone to pick up, I called Storm quite a few times before I even tried you ya know."

"Y/N, who is it..?" Storm groaned against you, sending a shiver up your spine as he shifted around so he was half on top of you and buried himself back under your arm. You put a hand over his mouth to sush him, you didn't want Gale to hear him. Unfortunately he wasn't happy that you silenced him and licked your hand in protest. You weren't expecting it and quickly pulled your hand back in surprise. After he felt confident he had deterred you from shushing him he threw his head back down and huffed.

"Yeah, sorry Gale." You said, hoping that would answer Storm's question. "What did you want anyway?"

"Oh yeah, I was gonna stop for breakfast at the next exit. I was wondering if you two wanted anything?"

You pretended to call out for Storm and asked him the question, not wanting to take a chance regarding what kind of conclusion Gale would come to if she knew you and Storm were together this early in the morning. What you feared wasn't exactly rational, but Gale could be really over protective of him. He wouldn't admit it, but after all she was like a mother to him.

Storm took a few seconds to think about it and shook his head, not even bothering to look up at you. What's up with him? "No, we're good. But thanks for the offer."

"Alright then, let me know if either of you change your mind. Other than that I'll let you know when we get there, only a few more hours!"

"Right, talk to ya later then." You replied, just wanting to end the call and see what's up with Storm. He's probably just tired, but after last night who knows. You were a bit more worried about him now.

You said goodbye to Gale and hung up, laying the phone back down on the nightstand. "You ok Storm?" You asked in a softer tone.

"I'm fine." he huffed again. It didn't sound like a genuine response, it was more like he just wanted you to stop pestering him. "Just go back to sleep and leave me alone, or at the very least be quiet so I can get back to sleep." Now what was his problem? If he was just tired he could have been nicer about it, but it was him. What else did you expect?

"Fine then, I'll just leave you alone if that's what you want." You made a move to get out from under him and out of bed, but I guess he didn't want you to go because he held on and wouldn't let you. "I thought you wanted to be left alone?"

"I do." He said, still clinging onto you.

"Then why don't you let go?"

This time he didn't answer though, he just let go and laid back down, but something about how he just slumped down off you felt a bit sad, as if he didn't want to let go. Did he really want you to stay? Was he just embarrassed to ask you now? You had no clue, so you asked. "Do you want me to stay?"

Slowly, he nodded. He still wouldn't look at you though, he really was just embarrassed to ask. Just as carefully as he had sadly and reluctantly let go of you, you slid back down beside him, once again nudging him back into your arms and once again he wrapped his arms around you, pulling himself closer. You looked down at him cuddled against you and felt your heart start to beat faster, you wanted to kiss him so bad. Just push his hair back and give him a little peck on the forehead, make sure he felt loved and safe and happy. He meant everything to you and you wanted him to know that.

He shifted around again and turned his head a bit. At this point you knew he could hear your heart racing, but he didn't say anything he just pushed even closer against you. I guess he really was softening up, something had changed about him. It wasn't anything bad, it was just different.

You wanted to tell him he didn't have to be embarrassed about wanting things like this, but it wouldn't have helped and you didn't want to break the comfortable silence that had fallen over the two of you. Soon enough both of you fell back asleep and hopefully by the time you woke back up, you'd be home.
