I woke up around 3p.m. I walked out of my room to see Johnny was gone. He left a note on the table telling me he'd be back soon. I scanned my eyes around the room, looking at my new home. I looked around, seeing what all was here to do. There was a back porch with chairs on it and a swing set out back that looked old. I sat outside and tried to wrap my mind around what was happening. I finally realized that Johnny and I couldn't go home. Our dad would kill us. I looked through some pictures that were left on a dresser in Johnny's room. There were pictures of boys that looked familiar. Some had Johnny and Dallas is them which made me understand that this house had belonged to our mom. She left us when I was little but died soon after. I never forgave her for leaving us with our abusive dad but that doesn't matter now, does it. Everybody says I look just like my mom and Johnny looks like my dad. I've got light brown hair and bright green eyes where as Johnny's got dark brown hair and eyes. We only look alike because we're both real tan skinny and short. I walked into the kitchen to see Johnny just got back with a bag of groceries. He put the food away and then made us some sandwiches.

"When's Dally comin?" I asked.

"Should be here tomorrow.." Johnny said with food filling his mouth.

"Oh..." Was the last thing I said all night. We were both exhausted. I fell asleep on the couch as Johnny was fiddling with a deck of cards. I woke up to Dally putting his nose on mine and laughing when I opened my eyes.

"Mornin' kid" he said rubbing his hand on my face. I got up and pulled my hair into a ponytail.

"When did you get here?" I asked dal.

"Just awhile ago.." He said sitting next to Johnny at the counter.

"What's your name again?" Dal asked me.

"Emily." I said a little hesitant at such a random question.

"Hey Johnny how old is she?" He said smiling.

"Don't even think about it Dal...you ain't touchin my sister..." Johnny said shoving Dals arm. I blushed at Dals comment but tried to hide it. I walked into my room as Dal and Johnny joked with each other for awhile. When I came back out Johnny was hugging Dal. I saw about 500 dollars sitting on the kitchen table and a brand new knife next to it. Dally looked at me when he finished his hug with Johnny.

"Come here kid.." He said putting out his arms. I took my time to walk over before hugging dal.

"Thank you Dallas..." I said into his chest. He kissed the top f my head and squeezed me before letting go.

"I barley know you but ya feel like a sister to me. And I promise ill keep you two safe, alright?" He said hitting my arm playfully. I smiled and nodded my head. Dally soon left us again on our own.

"Alright now Emily we've got 500 dollars for the next two months. Dals gonna come every other month or so to give us some money that the guys donate to us.." Said Johnny.

"Alright..." I said sad it would just be the two of us from now on. Dal did exactly what Johnny said he would, he'd come every so often and give us some stuff to keep us safe. Once I turned 16 I got a job at a local bar not too far from where we lived. Johnny and I grew found of our new home. We made me friends and all but we made sure not to get close with anyone. It was dangerous there though, especially at night. Johnny made sure I was rarely alone at night. Every time Dally stopped over, he'd hit on me in the morning but before he'd leave he'd remind me that I'm like his sister and he'd make sure I was safe. Dallas became close to Johnny and I. We were content until something happened. Dally didn't come around for months and we only had a few more bucks to spend since my job didn't pay too well. We were living on lake water and pretzels for weeks.

"I'm going out. Stay home." Johnny said. I did as I was told and stayed there all night. When Johnny got back he had cuts and bruises all over him.

"Where were you!?" I said helping him sit down.

"We have to go..." Johnny said to me.

"What happened?!" I asked.

"I stole some food from an open trunk but the guys who's car it was caught me and did this to me. He wouldn't stop beating on me so I shanked him...he's alive but I'm sure ill be getting into trouble if I'm caught." So, that night we ran and ran and got on the train to go back home. Dally met us somewhere and drove us back to a house in the neighborhood we use to live in.
