It took me a considerable amount of time to realize that Henry's book didn't have my happy ending written. I mean, it didn't have any ending for me. I suppose this story is for when we find the author. I'll give it to him and he can put it in the book, you know, to make it official. Of course, I won't really let Regina know that I have my own plans when we find him.

The story begins when the baby was born. Ha, not my child, mind you, Snow White's. Baby Neal was born and Snow's loft was getting crowded. I mean, she lived there with Charming, Emma, and, on occasion, Henry. So, being the cunning dog that I am, I suggested that Emma could come live with me at Granny's. Temporarily, of course. We wouldn't live at Granny's Bed and Breakfast forever.

To my surprise, yes surprise, Emma agreed. I mean, I didn't expect her to want to live with me. Being a one-handed guy kind of made it hard to live with someone else. Cleaning up, for instance, that's hard to do. My place is a mess. Another thing is when I get dressed. It's hard to zip up your pants when you've only got five fingers.

So Emma moved in with me. It's probably one of the best things that have happened to me. I mean, we share a bed. That's a big upside. And sometimes she accidentally leaves her clothes lying around. When I say clothes, I mean under garments. Though, there are downsides. Such as when she showers. She uses all of the hot water, so when I want to shower, it's not as warm.

A week after she moved in, I knew I wanted to marry her. I went to Gold's and luckily he wasn't there. Belle was at the counter.

(Flashback begins)

"Hello," Belle greeted.

"Hi," Killian sighed.

"What can I do for you?"

"Well," he looked around nervously. "I actually came to buy a ring.."

Her eyes widened and she stood a little straighter. "What," she coughed and regained her composure, "what kind of ring?"

"Look, I'd rather not anyone know... I want to get an engagement ring."

A big smile broke out over Belle's face. "Well, don't I feel special?" She held up her index finger and went into the back room. She came back with a box and opened it up. "Here's a nice collection of engagement rings. We might have more, but I don't know where they are at the moment."

Killian walked over to the box and looked through them. One caught his eye and he picked it up. It had two small bands curling over the main band in a wave-like manner. The diamond was in the middle of a bird shaped metal design.

"Ah, I figured that might have been the one you'd pick out. It's perfect for her isn't it? I mean, Emma Swan." Belle gleamed at him.

"It is perfect," he agreed. "Is that really supposed to be a swan? I mean, wouldn't it be awful if it were a duck?"

"It's a swan, you goof!" She laughed.

"Yeah," he smiled and looked up at her. "I just want to make sure it's perfect."

He bought the ring and left. He couldn't help but smile to himself. It was perfect. Now, where to hide it from her?
