I was in a deep forest surrounded by thick green trees, the ground shook like an earthquake and started to split apart. Black filled the air as a black giant monster came into vision and roared mightily. It had great sharp teeth that poked out of its mouth unable to be contained, it growled lowly before letting out a louder and more ferocious roar shaking the ground and trees. My vision faded to black. I slowly came to myself I was in a very dark room, pitch black basically, I looked around and the great beast in front of me that I encountered in the forest, a purplish light shone brightly above it and a voice spoke. "Rise, Link.... The time has come for you to awaken... You are fated to have a hand in a great destiny, and it will soon find you. The time had come for you to awaken..... Link...." The beast roared again and I tried to shield myself with my hands, my head started to spin, I felt dizzy. I turned to my left when I heard a screech and came face to face with Zelda's Loftwing, Blu. I screamed as did Blu at the close encounter and I felt myself fall hard and hit the ground. My head really hurt now.

I slowly opened my eyes as I felt the pain in the back on my head, I looked around to see I was in my room at the Knight Academy back home in Skyloft. I was lying on the floor as I must have fallen out of bed, damn nightmares. I looked at my window and Blu was staring at me before she spat a letter out at my head and left, leaving me to get up. I rubbed the spot on the back of my head where I hit it on the floor. I opened up the letter Blu left, it was from Zelda of course who else? "Hey, sleepyhead. I know how much you like to sleep in, so I'm guessing this letter will be your alarm clock this morning. Did I guess right?" Yep, I hate it when Zelda's always right. "Rise and Shine, Link! Today's the Wing Ceremony! You promised to meet me before it starts, remember? You better not keep me waiting. -Zelda." How could I forget? I smiled at the letter and set it on my desk before heading of my room. I saw one of the other Knights, Pipit standing outside the library he turned and greeted me with his usual confidence.

"Morning, Link! So today's the Wing Ceremony. Are you ready? All I'm saying is everyone else is out practicing at the plaza, but you seem pretty....relaxed about the whole thing." I could tell he had to stop to think about his word choice without calling me lazy. "Of course, that Crimson Loftwing of yours is something special. I'd feel pretty confident riding him too! My bird won the last ceremony, but even I don't think he could beat that red terror of yours..." Of course, a bird's true speed in a race always comes down to the skill of the rider." I rolled my eyes. "I'll be fine, Pipit. Don't you worry." I smirked as he laughed and I walked away into the Library to find Instructor Owlan standing there. "Hey, Link. The day of the Wing Ceremony is finally upon us! It's time to put what you've learned to use.... All those practical skills I taught you, and the academic prowess Instructor Horwell taught you!" I nodded as he smiled and got back to what he was doing.

I exited the library and walked towards the stairs that lead to the top floor, I heard Pipit complaining about the lunch lady taking forever and reminding me that the top doors are locked so I'll have to exit the Academy through the bottom ones. I nodded and headed upstairs where Karane was standing at the said locked doors. "Good morning, Link! Good luck in the Wing Ceremony today!" Why does everyone I talk gotta mention the Wing Ceremony, I know! I'm nervous, lay off it. "Just think: if you win today, you'll become a senior like me and Pipit and you'll be a very big step closer to graduating as a knight. You'll even get a knight's uniform like I'm wearing. Something tells me you'll be pretty handsome in it!" We laughed, "Thanks Karane, I'm nervous but I'll be fine." She nodded, she wasn't into me but she did like how guys looked in knight's uniforms. "But still not as dreamy as... him..." I rolled my eyes, I don't know who she had her eyes on but frankly I could care less.

I walked back downstairs, heading towards the front doors when I saw my friend Fledge attempting to lift barrels outside the kitchen. He was a timid guy and I don't know if he'll ever be a knight which sounds harsh but I think it's not in his personality. He's very soft and has trouble with confidence quite a bit but I do what I can to help him. "Good morning, Link! Today's the big Wing Ceremony, right?" "Yes! Everyone I speak to is obsessed. There's no way I could forget it." He giggled before speaking again. "I wanted to fly too, but I...I dint make the cut so I'm stuck back here at the Academy." I felt sorry for Fledge he was a hard worker he's just not good at anything physical. "Plus, I got to move these barrels over to the kitchen. I was hoping to at least be able to cheer you on, Link, but.... I guess that's the way it goes. Go out there and wow them, buddy!" I smiled and patted him on the shoulder. "Thanks Pal! You want some help moving these barrels to the grump in the kitchen?" He giggled. "Aww, thanks. I didn't think you had time to help me out, Link." I smiled, patting his arm and picked up a barrel, lifting it over my head. "No problem Bud! What you think friends are for?" He smiled as I took this heavy ass barrel to the kitchen.

The lunch lady Henya who was grumpy 90% of the time hence the nickname I gave her looked at me before speaking as I put the barrel down in front of her. What's all this? I thought I had told Fledge to carry that! Bah, it's probably for the best... That skinny boy probably would have gotten flattened. Say... don't you have some important ceremony or some such today? Hmph! Well, thanks for the help." I nodded politely, walking away as I swear if one more person mentions this ceremony I'm gonna go insane. I walked back past Fledge smiling at him as he thanked me again and I walked out of the Academy, breathing in fresh air. I walked over the boxes that were stacked next to a wall I usually used to get up to the top floor if I missed curfew at night when the lock the bottom doors. "Hey, Link! Up here!" I turned to see Instructor Horwell up on the top floor looking down. Instructor Horwell and Instructor Owlan were twin brothers at the Academy. "Good morning to you, Link! Today's finally the day of the long-awaited Wing Ceremony!" Oh my days, people here need to start conversations with something other than the damn Wing Ceremony. Are you feeling ready? Come here and join me so we can chat." I nodded and ran up the boxes, grabbing the top of the before doing the same with the ledge, jumping the short gap before speaking to Instructor Horwell.

"So what are you up to? Rushing to get some last-minute bird-riding practice in this morning, Link? Oh? You have someone to meet? Ah, Zelda's waiting for you, is she? Perfect timing then! You see, you know Zelda's father- Headmaster Gaepora." Yes, I course knew who he was you see, Headmaster Robert Gaepora wasn't just Zelda's father he was my father too, not biologically unfortunately but he did adopt me and calls me his son. I address him as Rob or Robert as it's what I've called him since I could talk really, I never called him Dad before and I don't know why. Me or Zelda only addressed him with our respective names when it wasn't in the Academy or in class presence as why wouldn't we? He is our father after all. My parents died when I was only a baby and I was left at Robert's house in a basket with a note that must have been from another family member that said my parents weren't expecting a baby it just happened. I know cliché right? but the note mentions that they didn't want me and they died not long after I was left with Robert so maybe it was good I wasn't with them. Robert named me Link and raised me alongside Zelda, I've never missed or wondered about my family because to me my real family is here in Skyloft with my father figure and my sister. Robert wanted me to become a knight mainly because he was the headmaster of the Academy I shook myself out of my thoughts and continued to listen to Instructor Horwell. "His pet Mia has, well...she's scampered off again."

He pointed to the roof of the academy where Mia was snoozing. Look! Over there! Do you see her? The headmaster is busy working with Zelda preparing of the Ceremony... I though maybe I should fee her, but the ceremony is about to start and I just put on a fresh set of clothes and, well...you see..." I sighed, he wanted to go get her because he didn't want to get his clothes dirty. Will you help me out and go retrieve Mia for me?" I nodded. "Sure. I'm on it!" I told him, he smiled brightly. "Fantastic! So you'll do it?! I know you're in a hurry, so I really appreciate your taking the time to help. Over you should be able to climb up over there. I'm terribly sorry, but I know you're quite the climber! I really do appreciate it!" I walked over to the hanging ledge behind him and jumped the gap again before climbing up the vines on the side of the wall and climbed up there was a box that pushed to get up to the roof Mia was on and I picked up her up and brought her back down to Instructor Horwell. "Nice work! You've brought her back safer and sound! Sorry for troubling you with this, I know you're busy, Link! I suppose I should feed Mia now... Please tell the headmaster that we found his pet. He should be up by the Statue of the Goddess. I believe Zelda is there with him, so you should hurry along. " I nodded and left him with Mia before heading to the Statue of the Goddess.
