I always thought that when I had a best friend it would be fun and exciting..Not boring and lonely like it is now. I sighed as I walked into La Push High School feeling terrible from the slight cold I had and sniffled softly to myself. My faded blue eyes looked around for my best friend, Jacob Black and never found him in the big crowd that was students with a small amount of teachers in the midst. He hadn't shown up in weeks and I was starting to think honestly that he was dead but no one told me. Not like they would because Jacob and I aren't even supposed to be friends.. As I made it to my last class of the day my other friends Sammy(male), Jenna(female), and Adven(male) were all talking among themselves. "Oh my god did you hear that Jacob Black is coming back? I heard he is RIPPED and huge now!" Jenna said excitedly as I walked up. I silently sat behind them and listened knowing that at least one of them saw me come in. "Hey Tess." I barely let off a smile that probably looked more like a scowl and everyone went back to talking. I turned on my Ipod and started to listen to The Monster by Rihanna and Eminem. I nodded my head to the beat then looked up as the teacher passed out worksheets. After finishing mine I looked around and noticed I was the only one done. I guess I get to go early.. I grabbed my bag as well as shoving my Ipod into my pocket then handed the paper in nodding to the teacher then turning to my friends holding up a peace sign. I left anticipated as to when I would see Jake again but figured I wouldn't if he had already been gone this long. As I walked down the street along the edge of the forest I heard some twigs snap through my listening to music and ignored it as I listened to the next song. I started to samba by myself as the start of I Will Never Let You Down by Rita Ora came on. I mumbled the next part "I know exactly how you feel." to myself and smiled as I nodded to the beat. A few more twigs snapped and out of the corner of my eye a whole tree started to fall over right in front of me. I pulled out my earbuds and shoved everything in my pocket to get a better look around. I gasped as the tree fell more and felt a gush of wind brush past me. I noticed someone had come to my rescue and somehow was holding the tree up. "How-" The tree was shoved to the side as if it was nothing and I noticed a pale rippled arm that tossed it.  "Who-" I whispered astonished that the man had tossed the tree as if it were a tennis ball and he turned to look at me. His Cheshire grin showed that it wasn't a good person and I started to back up scared shitless. "Who are you?" I questioned and fiddled in my pocket trying to find my phone to dial 911. The man threw his head back laughing and walked up to me in one stride. "I'm not Jake sweetheart. I'm similar to him though." He said and by now his face was even to mine. His grin widened and I looked down to see fangs protruding out. "What are you?" I asked and was taken aback when he leaned up to rub my cheek. "You are one foolish girl." It took about a second for him to come at me and when he did lunge forward finally another body came into the picture. "Leave her alone." By now I was freaked out and didn't even know what to do in this type of situation. I saw the tanned arms but now with more muscles. I saw the same childish black haired boy but taller and honestly fuming man now. "Jake?" The man turned to look at me and his face was set to a grimace. "Leave her alone. I won't say it again." His face was set to a harsh glare by now replacing the grimace he had and I just stood there. "Fine. But I will have my way with her one day." The man vanished almost into thin air and I collapsed against the hard ground sobbing into the dirt. Jacob walked away looking at me one more time and I just laid there while he left. I didn't try to get up and follow after him or anything. I figured if he wanted to see me he would have stepped forward and helped me. I laid there most of the night just thinking and wondering if I'd ever see Jake again but I didn't think I would. I woke up the next morning to find that I was in the same spot as last night. This time with cuts all over me. Most of them carved names over and over. Victoria, James, and Laurent. The cuts on my body were bleeding so heavily it had started to stain the ground. I tried to stand but found it profusely hard to get a grip of reality. I guess Jacob wasn't here to save me this time. I wondered for a while on how they were able to cut me without me knowing it but I didn't question it considering within the past day and a half I was out cold due to the vampires doing what they did.
