Carly’s Pov
I woke up to the annoying sound of the red, plastic and overly-perky… alarm clock. I groaned, smacking my hand down over the object, surprisingly small for the amount of sound which had been let out of it. I flung back the sheets, and sat up, rubbing my eyes and yawning repeatedly.
I slipped on my pink fluffy slippers and padded into my bathroom, running a hand through my messy hair. I clutched onto my pink robe, and undressed, stepping into the shower. I had a quick one, washing my hair and body. I was out in what seemed like seconds, but it was more like 10 minutes. I slipped on my robe, tying the fluffy rope around my waist. I let my damp unruly hair free, looking like an untamed, damp birds nest. I walked over to my dresser, pulling open one of the rickety, white painted wooden drawers. I chose a simple, little black dress. I slipped it on, zipping up the back, covering up as much skin that this dress would able me to.
I walked back into the bathroom, blow drying my brown hair, and curling it slightly. I then applied a few layers of mascara to my top and bottom lashes, then opening up my liquid eyeliner, adding my usual cat flicks to the ends of my eye lids. I got out my concealer, covering up little spots which had appeared over night. I looked at my reflection and smiled. I slipped on my pair of white low cut converse, and tied up the laces. I walked into Sierra’s room, hearing the soft snores coming from her bed. I bent over, pecking her forehead before opening the blinds. She moaned, rubbing her eyes.
She got out of her bed, still half-asleep. "Baby, can you please go find a shirt and some pants for kindy?" I said, bending down to her level. She nodded eagerly, disappearing into her wardrobe. I walked out into the kitchen, pouring some cereal, and boiling the kettle. I turned around, and nearly screamed as I saw a shirtless Harry appear from the guest bedroom. He looked shocked, turning around, his hands in the air. "What? Is there someone here?" said Harry, worry filling his voice.
I giggled. "No, no. I just forgot you were here, that’s all," I said sheepishly. Harry rolled his eyes, walking up behind me, and opening up the food cupboard. "Do you have any pop-tarts?" he whined, sifting through the various boxes of food. I shook my head. "We don’t eat pop-tarts, but you can go to the store today, and get some of your food I guess," I said, pouring some tea into a cup for me. I filled up a bottle of milk for Sierra, and placing it on the table, next to her cereal.
She toddled out, in a yellow tee with a ducky on it, dark blue jeans and some low cut white converse. She sat at her usual spot at the table, scooping up her cereal. Harry poured himself some tea, sitting next to Sierra, spoon-feeding her breakfast. I took a bite of a cookie, brushing the crumbs into the sink. "Sierra bear, when you finish, can you go brush your teeth for me? Then I’ll do your hair okay?" I said, her nodding in agreement. She finished her breakfast, running off into the main bathroom to brush her teeth. Harry cleaned up her mess, and his for that matter.
"So what do you do all day?" asked Harry. "I will answer you when you’re dressed," I said smirking. Harry rolled his eyes, walking back into the guest bedroom. I put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher, turning it on, hearing the faint whirring of the machine.
I walked into my bathroom, brushing my teeth and spraying some perfume around my body. I turned around, and bumped into a solid figure, squealing. "I’m dressed?" said Harry, hands up in defeat. I rolled my eyes, as he sat down on my bed. I pretended to furrow through my drawers, but out of the corner of my eye, I watched him.
He had his hair perfectly styled, a white transparent shirt on, with black skinny jeans, and a pair of black low cut converse. He smirked. "You know I can see you checking me out, right?" he said, my cheeks heating up in embarrassment. "I wasn’t!" I said, flustered. He chuckled. "Sure you weren’t. So back to my question?" he said, his left eyebrow raising slightly.
"I’m a teacher, at a kindergarten a few blocks away. I own it actually. Sierra goes there as well, so that’s where you’ll find us if you need to!" I said, shutting my drawer, the ornaments rattling on top. "Ok! But, since I have nothing else to do, how about I come along!?" said Harry, grinning.
"Well, if you want, but you have to behave, they’re only 3!" I said, frowning. He nodded his head eagerly, his curls bouncing up and down. He reminded me of… a 5 year old sometimes.
Sierra toddled into the room, a hairbrush and a pink elastic secured between her tiny fingers. "Here ya go mummy!" she said, smiling. I brushed her brown hair back, tying it up into a high ponytail, securing it with her pink elastic. I pecked her forehead, ushering her out. "Grab you backpack and we’ll get going okay sweetie?" I said, her running out of the room.
"You’re really good with her," murmured Harry, and I jumped, almost forgetting he was there. I half-smiled, looking back at him. "Well, I kind of had to learn, being the only caregiver of her, ya know?" I said, walking out of the room. Sierra was waiting patiently by the front door, her back secured tightly to her back. I lifted her up, placing her on my hip. "Harry!? We’re going now, so you better get a move on!" I said, opening up the door. "I’m ready!" said Harry, jumping out from behind the wall, having Sierra in hysterics.
I rolled my eyes, placing a squirmy Sierra on the floor. We walked into the elevator, going down to the basement floor, where the carpark was located. I walked over to my car, then felt a strong hand on my shoulder. "We’re taking my car today," said Harry, sending me a wink. I looked over to where Sierra and Harry was, in front of a brand new Audi R8 Coupe. "Oh… Kay?" I said, walking over to his car. I got into the passenger side, Sierra standing there, confused. "Mumma, I don’t have my seat!" she said frowning. Harry frowned, then ran over to my car, looking at me expectantly.
I threw him the keys, which he caught gracefully. He opened the door, fiddling with the latches to Sierra’s seat. I checked my phone, sighing. "Harry? We’re going to be late," I said, frowning. "Almost got it!" he said, breathlessly.
He pulled out the seat triumphantly, grinning. "That’s great Harry, now how are you going to get it in your car?" I said, a giggle escaping his lips. The smile disappeared from his face, Sierra laughing a long with me. "Daddy hurry up," she said, smiling. He smiled back, walking back to the car. "I’ll be quick okay?" he said, looking at me apologetically. I rolled my eyes, getting into the passenger seat. He fiddled around again, and somehow managed to get the car-seat attached to the seat. Sierra sat in it, doing up the buckles herself, while Harry walked around to the drivers side.
He looked over to me, grinning. "So, Operation Get to Kindergarten?" he said, giving me a cheeky smile.
