The next day, Katsuki went to Kirishima's house to see his friends; they already knew that the disease have brought back, and Katsuki explained his final decision.

Thankfully, he was greeted with a sigh and understanding pats on the back.

The petals were to be removed from Katsuki the following day. When he went for a consult beforehand, the doctors even told him how lucky he was that the flowers hadn't taken root in his lungs yet and caused permanent, potentially deadly damage.

Katsuki remained silent, unsure of how to react. He's been feeling numb for a few days now.

"The disease should be completely gone after the surgery, and there should be no more petals. Your respiratory system will be clear, and your throat should be able to relax as a result of all the vomiting." The doctor was taking notes on his clipboard.

"So after this shit it'll all be gone, right?"

"Yes it does, but there's also-"

"Then this is what I want."

"...Alright."

Katsuki was now sitting in a hospital room, wearing a plain hospital gown, with Mina, Sero, Kaminari, and Kirishima waiting for him, as well as Todoroki.

As he squirmed on the hospital bed, the room fell silent, and anxiety filled the air. All he could do in the hours leading up to the surgery was remain calm, easing the process of removing the petals from his lungs.

He decided to savor the good and bad times he shared with Izuku for as long as he could, to dwell on his emotions for as long as he could.

His heart twisted at the thought of losing these feelings, of losing the way he truly appreciated everything that made Izuku who he was. He'd never admit it to him, though.

From the corner of his eye, he could see Kirishima every now and then looking up at him, biting at a nail.

His friends pushed him to talk with Izuku one last time, but he refused. Izuku was already happy, he saw how excited he was about his wedding. He didn't want to ruin it.

Soon after, the doctor arrived, followed by a team of nurses to transfer his bed and IV drip to the surgery unit.

They straightened the bed, causing him to lie back, and he found himself choked up as he stared up at the clean white ceiling.

This was it.

As the bed was wheeled out of the reserved room, Katsuki's gaze met those of his friends.

Mina gave him a tearful smile and a small wave. The rest of his friends' eyes followed him out, worried, and the door closed.

He listened as the doctors and nurses put on their gloves after he was successfully transferred. He watched as they injected general anesthesia into his IV, and then he felt himself fade into nothingness.

Izuku and him were like parallel lines, and once upon a time, at the end of the chaos and uncertainties, Izuku was his home.

When Katsuki woke up, he felt like he's just floating in mid-air. He guessed it was the painkillers as his eyes squinted in the harsh hospital room light.

His gaze was drawn to Todoroki, who was sitting next to the bed. "Are you alright? How do you feel right now?"

"Fine, I guess." Katsuki snarled. Even with the anesthesia, he felt a little achy.

"Do you-" He hesitated. "Do you remember Midoriya?"

Katsuki wasn't sure whether to feel alarmed or not. He remembers him, he remembers Deku, but he felt...

"Yeah, I do," Katsuki responded.

"Maybe it's because.. the love was too strong that his mind and heart refused to forget Midoriya..." Ashido whispered to Sedo, which Katsuki overheard.

"But I don't feel anything." Katsuki says. His mind was blank and his heart was quiet, he couldn't help but notice how empty he felt.

It was as if something was missing.

Katsuki noticed how red the rims of Todoroki's eyes were when he gave him a relieved half-smile. The four people in the room burst into tears as they gently crammed around Katsuki, sharing a pleasant group embrace.

"Oh my god, I'm so glad you're okay!" Kaminari burst out crying.

Katsuki scoffs. "'Course I am, get the fuck away from me, I don't want your snort stuck on me!"

"BAKUGOUUUUUUU!!"

The most loud thing in Katsuki's mind, however, was the deafening silence he felt when he thought of him,

Deku.

He couldn't decide whether he preferred the emotional torment of falling in love with the nerd or the emptiness of falling out of love with him.
