CHAPTER-11

-THIRD PERSON POV-

They were silent the whole walk to Boun's home. They all felt guilty that their closest friends were going through this much shit and they didn't even know it. They were feeling really overwhelmed. Earth reaching his house bade the elders goodbye and left. Now it was only Ohm, Fluke, Boun, and Prem. Reaching their house with a heavy heart Ohm and Fluke went in their rooms. Ohm didn't say anything just went upstairs. Fluke gave a small sad smile and followed Ohm's lead.

Boun could see Prem was exhausted. He was looking blankly at the wall. "Prem. Prem" He called out. Seeing Prem not responding he shook him a little. Prem flinched a little and looked at him. "Sorry, Hia I didn't catch it. Did you say something?" Prem asked. "I said you look tired so go to our room and take a nap," Boun replied. Prem nodded and went upstairs. Boun was about to go to the kitchen to get some water when he heard a knock on the door. He opened the door only to be greeted by Officer Kao. "Sawadeekharp Kao." Boun greeted. Kao greeted him too. Boun told him to follow him. They went to the living room.

"When did you come here?" Kao asked. "We came the day before Samantha's funeral," Boun answered. "Why did you want to meet me?" Kao asked this time looking serious. "Well, Earth said you were helping Sammy to find who was blackmailing her. How much do you know about it?" Boun said moving to sit in front of Kao. Kao looked at him once then said, "I just know she was getting blackmailed by someone and it was from this town and she needed help from the police." Kao replied.

"Look I don't know if you are lying or don't know. I have no energy to inquire you so I 'll just tell you the whole thing." Boun said. Boun looked at him and started saying all the things. Starting with Samantha delivering drugs, Samantha's letter to Yatch's journal. He left out some details. "In Yatch's journal, he said the bad guy was someone really powerful in the town." Boun finished. "Wow, that's a lot. It will be a great help. I'll start looking into all the influential people in the town. Since the town is small it wouldn't be so tough." Kao said. "I hope this time the right person would be in jail," Boun said. "I'll take my leave now. I'll start the investigation tomorrow. If you get to know anything more call me." Kao said standing up. Boun led him to the front door.

After Kao left Boun closed the door and sighed. It had been a hectic day. He went to the kitchen grabbed himself a glass of water. He heard a sniffling coming from his mother's room. He put his glass down and went towards his mother's room. The door was open he went in and saw his mother crying. He immediately hugged his mother. "Mom! Are you okay? Why are you crying?" Boun asked panickily. He had never seen his mother cry before. His mother was really strong. Seeing the strong woman cry Boun got really scared. "Mae sshh. It's okay. Everythings fine. Don't cry na." Boun said tears in his eyes. He felt his mother putting her hand on Boun's back and hugging him tightly. "Mae sshh. I'll get you some water." Boun hurriedly went to the kitchen grabbed a glass of water. He came back to his mother's room. He saw his mother had stopped crying. He gave the water to his mom. She drank it. She seemed calm than before. "Mae, can you tell me what's wrong?" Boun asked and went to sit next to his mother.

"It's nothing." Boun's mom said. "Mae we both know how strong you are. You don't cry if it's nothing." Boun said. He grabbed both of his mother's hands and made her look towards him. "Look at me mae. I know something is wrong. You seemed gloomy since the day we came. You can tell me anything. I am your son. I'll listen to you and try to understand you. Ok. Now tell me what's wrong?" Boun continued. "Okay fine. I-it's just that you por has been acting a little different." Boun's mother replied hesitantly. "What do you mean?" Boun asked. "I-It's weird. I think he is doing some illegal things. I heard him talking to some shady people. He often comes home angry. You know how polite he is right but these days I hear him shout at people through his phone." She finished. "Mae, did he misbehave with you? Did he shout at you?" Boun asked. He loved his mother more than anything in the world. He would never tolerate anyone mistreating his mother. Boun's mother didn't answer him. She looked down and nodded. Boun was raging. His eyes were red. He was really mad. "What did he do? Mae don't stay quite what did he do to you?" Boun asked. "H-H-He I-i-I asked him to have dinner with us but he said no so I tried to convince him and he sla-slapped me and said he said no so He was not gonna come." At this time His mother was crying again. Boun was furious. He only saw red. "I am gonna freaking kill him," Boun said as he tried to leave the room. But his mother caught his hand and shook her head. "Boun no your friends are here. I don't want you to make a scene now." Boun's mom said with pleading eyes. Boun couldn't deny it. "Are you gonna be okay?" Boun asked. His mother nodded. "You take some rest I'll make dinner today," Boun said and left the room.

He went to the balcony and called Kao. "Hey, Kao. Umm, can you do a quick search on my Por. Yeah, Mae thinks he is doing some illegal stuff. No, I hope not. But it is possible that he might be related. He fills too many checkmarks. Yeah please inform me of anything. Thanks. I'll talk to you later." Boun hung up his phone. He went up to his room. When he entered the room he saw Prem sleeping like an angel. He forgot all the exhaustion. He went into the bathroom to change and wear something more comfortable. He saw one of his shirts was missing he looked at the sleeping angel and saw the little angel was wearing his shirt. He felt giddy inside. He thought Prem looked adorable. He wanted to lay in his bed and hold his Pao close to him more than anything. But he knew he needed to cook dinner. After changing he went down and started cooking some fried rice.

When he was alone all the things came to his mind. Yatch's last letter, Samantha's letter, his dad, the killer everything. He was furious. He was never fond of his father. His father was always all about politics, his position, and his money. But he never thought his father would hurt his mother. They always seemed really in love. He felt really bad for his mother. She had to live with that man for almost 30 years. He was just waiting for Kao's information to take his next action.
