The constant beeping every second of the pulse machine was soon a rythym in my mind while the powerful scent of the antibacterial liquid soon vanished. It had been several hours since I'd been in the hospital, from evening till dawn. Not one of my eyelids went shut throughout the night; and even so Anisa was still not awake. At first I bent my back towards her, folding my hands together, trying my best to not wake her up. Was she even alive? I had caught her hand before she slipped from the ledge, but the sudden jerk had dislocated her arm, according to the doctor's review of the situation. But...why would Anisa jump? She didn't do it on purpose, yet why did it seem as of she was greeting death with open arms? Nothing made any sense.
I still remember when I first saw Anisa, her beauty still scars my memory. Her bronzish-gold tan made her glow in the sunlight, her beautiful long hazel hair tied back into a pony that would sway like the trees would in the breeze, and her cheeks; those red bulbs that constantly glowed amongst the millions of people, as if they were saying, "I'm here and I exist too!"
The memories of the old days days was like a healing wind for me, but as I opened my eyes and returned to the world of the present, my face grew pale. Anisa was now a completely different person. Her skin now paled a bright yellowy tone, her hair incredibly short and untidy, and her eyelids surrounded by dark circles black and deep. It was as if she had spent her years with nothing but sorrow and tears. Her healthy glow had faded and now all that was left was skin and bones, and those too, were so brittle that they would crack at a simple touch. What had happened to her? Was it my fault that she was left like this? My hands curled into tight, red fists as I looked towards the floor, to see a single teardrop fall from my eye. "Anisa," I shakely whispered, "I am so sorry."
I placed my head on her bed, my tears now uncontrollable, until I felt a single frail hand place itself on my head.
"Robin.....?" She slowly whispered as I wiped my tears away, as a sudden wave of peace calmed my nerves and stopped my shaking hands. "Robin, why did you b...bring me back? I don't want to be here. Let me fly! This world h...hurts..." She stuttered painfully as tears streaked her face. I tightly gripped her hand, and stared straight into her hollow eyes, "Please stay Anisa. You won't be alone now. I'll be there for you this time, and you won't have to live here. I promise you that you won't feel pain again."
