The Ladder. It's right before me! It leads right up to the mortal world!
My main goal has almost been reached.
All I have to do is climb the Ladder and I'll be in the mortal world! It will be nearly impossible for the Demons from the other Seven Cities (well, now there are only six cities left) to find me-if they even figure out that Scheiji has been destroyed and I'm now in the mortal world. The mortal world stinks so bad of what I've heard it called 'pollution'.
I run towards the Ladder and grasp hold of it. My grey fingers that still radiate with intense heat curl around the cool steel.
I start to climb up, picking up the pace after I climbed each rod of the ladder.
I looked up. 'Damn,' I thought. 'This'll take a while.'
The ladder stretches for miles into the air. I make the mistake of looking down. I utter a small squeak and cling to the ladder tightly. If I fell, that would mean paralysation...and that's not an option. How would a paralysed Demon destroy all three worlds?
I gulp and turn away from the ground far below me. It continue to rapidly progress up the cold metal of the Ladder, but at a slower and more cautious pace.
A long while passes before I'm even a quarter of the way up the Ladder. My arms and legs are getting tired...ugh, this sucks.

Finally, I've reached the top of this damned Ladder. Honestly, why does Oblivion have to be THIS FAR below the mortal world?!
It seems like I've reached the top of Oblivion. Infinite crimson rock stretched away into the distance forever. Inches above my head, embedded stubbornly in the dark rock, is a shining steel trap door. I can tell it's unbelievably thick just by looking at it. The door is large and perfectly circular. An obsidian handle sits in the middle of it.
I grasp the handle tightly. I start to push at the door. It's hard to make it budge at first, but after the door opens a few inches, it's easier to push out.
Some strange air wafts in from whatever is above the door. It smells...good. Well, not exactly good, but it feels fresh. Not like the stale, hot air that clogs up your lungs. Yet that's the kind I'm used to. It's the air of Oblivion.
Cool breeze brushes my face gently. It feels so much easier to breath up here. My smouldering lungs fill up with the fresh, beautiful air. It fuels me to keep pushing at the door.
It finally swings open, and light streams in. I hiss at it and shield my eyes. Slowly I uncover my eyes and squint into the bright light. My eyes adjust to it.
I gradually climb our of the steel doorway and close it behind me. I stand up straight and examine my surroundings.
It seems I'm in one of the mortal's large cities. There's dark stone with yellow lines below me, and tall, shining buildings surround me. There are big, flat surfaces on the buildings with moving pictures flashing through them. Some sort of yellow, moving...THING races past me, blaring a loud noise. I leap back and stumble away. I trip on the raised curb of a lighter stone and fall flat on my butt.
'Holy crap!' I thought. 'What IS all this stuff?!' I stare at more of the yellow monsters. There's different colours of the monsters too, and also different shapes. One huge monster races past me. I cover my ears to shield them from the huge thing's roaring. With a hiss, I lift the palm of my hand. Heat starts to gather in the palm of my hand. Soon a fully fledged, hissing fireball sits there, just waiting to be thrown. I stand and give the fireball a hard throw. It zips through the air and leaves a little trail of smouldering embers.
The fireball smashes straight into the roaring monster. The fire licked up around the shining metal for a few moments before it suddenly explodes. I hear civilians screaming in fear and running away from the truck. A few stand shellshocked, staring blankly at me. I let an evil smile pull at my lips, and the paralysed mortals immediately turn tail and run.
Well, not that everyone's terrified of me, and since I already killed one of the huge monsters, I guess I'll start burning the city.
